About the role:

At Deliveroo we have a world class Data Science organisation, with a mission to enable the highest quality human and machine decision making. We work throughout the company - in product teams, in business teams and in platform teams. We are uniquely placed to connect and calibrate quantitative decision making throughout Deliveroo and our team members use technical skills from the whole spectrum of Data Science to achieve this: building analytical tools, creating bespoke and automated pieces of analysis, running experiments, performing causal analysis, informing planning and prioritisation with robust impact estimates, building production Machine Learning and Optimisation models, and upskilling the entire company in data literacy and data-driven decision making.

As our Data Science organisation and Deliveroo as a whole have evolved, so has the need for a Technical Program manager to facilitate delivery and support and develop the organisation. The role will sit within the Program Management function but be embedded into Data Science and work closely with colleagues at all levels across the business.

What you'll be doing:

  • Facilitate the requirement gathering, development and rollout of Data Science products to the wider company
  • Work across the Tech org to identify and own improvements to team working practices and  delivery processes where there’s an intersection with Data Science
  • Ensure roadmap delivery is on track by identifying and aligning any dependencies and removing blockers for the team
  • Define and implement a communication strategy for projects to capture issues and keep key stakeholders informed
  • Build positive, trusting relationships through consistent, on-time delivery of commitments and effective communication
  • Work with the wider TPM community to solve challenging problems and enable cross-tech planning processes, prioritisation
  • Track issues and find solutions for programme problems as they arise
  • Stakeholder management: This is a critical role for Deliveroo to make sure both external and internal teams are working toward the same goal and managing communication & changes. You’ll need to advocate for all stakeholders throughout the program to ensure they have the support needed to succeed
  • Workflow improvement: work closely with your teams to define and maintain work practices, tools and guidelines across the team

  • Interpersonal skills to build relationships, and collaborate with diverse geographically distributed teams
  • Ability to manage multiple facets of a large-scale project and track progress
  • Problem solving skills to keep multiple programmes of work on track
  • Experience working effectively in a constantly evolving and ambiguous environment
  • Tailoring communication and reporting in accordance with the needs and expectations of the audience
  • Excellent attention to detail, multi-tasking and organisational skills
  • Growth mindset: continually learning and improving to help both yourself and Deliveroo grow

  • Proven industry experience as a Technical Programme Manager, Project Manager or Senior Scrum Master, ideally within a tech-driven organisation
  • Multiple years experience working with engineers, product managers, Dev-ops, ideally with exposure to an Agile framework.
  • Experience defining and implementing strategies and processes from scratch
  • Nice to have but not essential: understanding of Data Science fundamentals and/or experience in a data science/ analytics role

Why Deliveroo?

Our mission is to be the definitive food company. We are transforming the way the world eats by making food more convenient and accessible. We give people the opportunity to eat what they want, when and where they want it.

We are a technology-driven company at the forefront of the most rapidly expanding industry in the world. We are still a small team, making a very large impact, seeking to answer some of the most interesting questions out there. We move fast, value autonomy and ownership, and we are always looking for new ideas.

Workplace & Diversity

At Deliveroo we know that people are the heart of the business and we prioritise their welfare. We offer a wide range of competitive benefits in areas including health, family, finance, community, convenience, growth, time away and relocation.

We believe a great workplace is one that represents the world we live in and how beautifully diverse it can be. That means we have no judgement when it comes to any one of the things that make you who you are - your gender, race, sexuality, religion or a secret aversion to coriander. All you need is a passion for (most) food and a desire to be part of one of the fastest growing startups in an incredibly exciting space.
