Analytics engineering is fundamentally about collaborative knowledge creation between data technology and the business.
We choose pragmatic, performant and reliable approaches to achieve the best results we can. This will require both tactical and strategic thinking in our choices to provide the best value add. We will be enhancing existing pipelines and investigating new tools that will increase reliability, resilience and repeatability to improve the quality and timeliness of the datasets we produce.
Over the next 12 months you will:
Manage data warehouse plans for a product or a group of products.
Design and implement effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve company data.
Recommend solutions to improve new and existing database systems.
Interface with engineers, product managers and product analysts to understand data needs.
Build data expertise and own data quality for allocated areas of ownership.
Design, build and launch new data pipelines in production.
Design, build and launch new data extraction, transformation and loading processes in production.
Support existing processes running in production.
Manage SLA for all data sets in allocated areas of ownership.
Work with data infrastructure to triage infra issues and drive to resolution
Who are you?
Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements
5 or more years professional experience working in any language, and a willingness to quickly get up to speed on our stack
In-depth understanding of database structure principles. Strong Data Modelling and Data architecture skills.
Experience building analytical datasets (dimensional models, datamarts)
Extensive work experience as a Data Engineer, Data Analyst or similar role
Strong background in Data and analytics engineering, managing teams of data engineers, BI engineers & Data Scientists
Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture. Experience building end-to-end data solutions and pipelines.
5+ years of experience in BI and Data Warehousing/Data Lakes
Mentored or ran workshops for Data Science teams in new Data Engineering methods
Experience working with engineering teams with data and data science background
Communication and leadership skills, with the ability to initiate and drive projects proactively.
Strong SQL skills. Development experience in at least one other language
BA/BSc in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or other technical field preferred
Experience working with streaming data sources (e.g Kinesis or Kafka)
Fantastic exposure to scaling a tech team at a unique pace
