When you first think about Deliveroo, you probably think of getting great food to your house in less than half an hour.  Awesome right? But behind the scenes is the real story. This story is one of high growth, huge challenges and an enormous opportunity ahead of us. It began with our founder Will, arriving in London over 5 years ago and finding it almost impossible to order great food, despite the wealth of incredible restaurants in the city.  

Fast forward 5 years and we operate in 13 countries with over 50,000 riders who deliver orders from 50,000 restaurants in over 200 cities worldwide. We want to be the definitive food company - the app you go to any time you have a hunger pang. We are transforming the way people think about food. We are providing people with limitless access to different cuisines and restaurants, turning cooking from a chore to a choice, and giving people the freedom to eat what they want, when they want, where they want it. We work with riders, restaurants and consumers. We operate one of the most complex three sided marketplaces in the world and we do this in real time. Millions of customers and thousands of restaurants and riders rely on us to match them within milliseconds. The algorithms behind that marketplace are the secret sauce that allow us to deliver our orders in under 30 minutes.

And we’re just getting started

The scale of the opportunity ahead of us is immense. The global food market is valued at £7.7 trillion but only 1% of it is currently online. Contrast that with the digital disruption of countless other industries - from banking and travel to retail and communications - it’s clear that our journey in the food sector has only just begun. We are already a multi-billion dollar company that is more than doubling in size every year.  Deliveroo came top in the FT’s’ list of Europe’s fastest growing 1000 companies in 2018, and we were the first company ever to win Deloitte’s ‘UK Top 50’ two years in a row. As HRBP you are responsible for overseeing all human resources operations and ensure they’re aligned with our business goals.

Leading all things ‘people’, you support the business to hire talented people, help develop great careers, build tools and processes that drive high performance, and ultimately create an environment where people feel personally connected to delivering the Deliveroo purpose and can do their best work.

Whilst you will be part of the People team for your market, you will also be part of the wider People Team. You will work with the People Partner, Europe, your EU People colleagues and the wider central People Team to continue raising the bar on the people experience. You’ll use your ‘think global, act local’ mindset to interpret People principles to achieve the best outcomes for your market. 



  • Consult with line management and provide daily HR guidance

  • Analyze trends and metrics with the HR department

  • Resolve complex employee relations issues and address grievances

  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build strong partnership and increase productivity and retention

  • Provide HR policy guidance

  • Monitor and report on workforce and succession planning

  • Work across your market to drive a high-performance culture where everyone is clear on what their job is, what success looks like, how they’re evaluated and how they can develop.

  • Develop & communicate relevant tools for employees & managers to have meaningful career conversations.

  • Implement an amazing learning & development offering that engages our employees and helps them with their personal and professional progression.

  • Partner with the EU Recruitment team on all things ‘hiring’ from creating a seamless recruitment process to hiring the best talent.

  • Partner with the HQ and local Workplace / Facilities Team to ensure we’re providing the best employee experience. Work together to proactively provide a high level of Health, Safety and Wellbeing. 

  • Partner with the HQ People Centres of Excellence to design, develop, and deliver innovative People solutions in core areas such as talent management, reward, talent acquisition, etc. You’ll also spend time making sure that your HQ partners understands what does and doesn’t work in your market.

  • Be responsible for People compliance and governance in your market. Build the best legal framework that balances French legislation and Deliveroo’s objectives. 

  • Partner with and build a great relationship with the Works Council. 

  • Ensure the effective delivery of People operations processes and admin.

  • Provide thought leadership and people initiatives to increase diversity and inclusion across your market

  • You’re a great communicator, intuitively finding the right tone in every situation. You’re good at stating your case (both verbally and in written comms) and have the ability to easily convey your message to diverse audiences.

  • You’re skilled in building relationships at all levels and across borders and matrices.
