When you first think about Deliveroo, you probably think of getting great food to your house in less than half an hour.  Awesome right? But behind the scenes is the real story. This story is one of high growth, huge challenges and an enormous opportunity ahead of us. It began with our founder Will, arriving in London over 5 years ago and finding it almost impossible to order great food, despite the wealth of incredible restaurants in the city.  Fast forward 5 years and we operate in 13 countries with over 50,000 riders who deliver orders from 50,000 restaurants in over 200 cities worldwide.

Millions of customers and thousands of restaurants and riders rely on us to match them within milliseconds. The algorithms behind that marketplace are the secret sauce that allows us to deliver our orders in under 30 minutes.

And we’re just getting started

The scale of the opportunity ahead of us is immense. The global food market is valued at £7.7 trillion but only 1% of it is currently online. Contrast that with the digital disruption of countless other industries - from banking and travel to retail and communications - it’s clear that our journey in the food sector has only just begun.

The Role

As Local Engagement Lead you'll be responsible for our overall local engagement strategy - there are more than 25,000 Deliveroo riders across the UK and Ireland, and we want to make sure that we meet and collect feedback from as many as possible in a meaningful, scalable way. 

We regularly run local events in many of our markets, whether that's handing out new Deliveroo kit, answering riders' questions, showcasing our partners or responding to operational challenges or changes in rider sentiment. It's your job to fully understand our riders and to decide how we do that best.

Based in our London HQ and reporting to the Head of Rider Content & Engagement you'll manage our regional Engagement Teams and determine how to run local events to maximise their impact, support central C&E campaigns and address operational challenges.

Specific priorities within the role

  • Have a deep understanding of Deliveroo, the rider experience, and the differences in cities across UKI to recommend the best courses of action

  • Monitor rider sentiment and operational metrics across UKI, report and devise a strategy for local engagement - be creative in solving problems

  • Plan, schedule and organise a regular campaign of high-impact local events, allowing us to engage with as many riders across UKI as possible

  • Work with the Head of Content & Engagement to plan local engagement supporting major launches and campaigns

  • Work with our restaurant teams to build campaigns improving relationships between riders and restaurants


  • A background in community or political organising is preferred - know how to build communities and reach large, dispersed groups of people

  • Strong communication skills - able to know what to say in any situation, and to quickly build trust and respect and form relationships with people from all backgrounds

  • Strong project manager and experience planning and running large events with lots of moving parts - and to be very hands-on

  • Logical and data-driven - able to analyse data and diagnose a problem, then understand the levers we have as an Operations Team to resolve it

  • Flexibility in travelling across UKI (mileage and expenses covered)
