When you first think about Deliveroo, you probably think of getting great food to your house in less than half an hour.  Awesome right? But behind the scenes is the real story. This story is one of high growth, huge challenges and an enormous opportunity ahead of us. It began with our founder Will, arriving in London over 5 years ago and finding it almost impossible to order great food, despite the wealth of incredible restaurants in the city.  Fast forward 5 years and we operate in 13 countries with over 50,000 riders who deliver orders from 50,000 restaurants in over 200 cities worldwide.

The algorithms behind that marketplace are the secret sauce that allow us to deliver our orders in under 30 minutes.

The Role

As part of the Finance team you will be required to support the Senior Manager for Indirect Tax on global VAT compliance and provide advice to various stakeholders in a constantly evolving and high-growth business. Specifically, this role is responsible for:

 

  • Managing the VAT compliance process so that Deliveroo always pays the correct amount of tax
  • Reviewing the work of external advisers in detail to ensure complete accuracy of tax returns
  • Managing external advisers to ensure no deadline is ever missed
  • Identifying risk areas, prioritising as appropriate and mitigating these
  • Respond to questions from the business and other areas of Finance on a real-time basis
  • Build relationships across Deliveroo so that tax is consulted when appropriate
  • Work with the business on ad-hoc projects

  • A proactive and responsible attitude to workload, with a propensity to own the key duties of the role and strive for continuous improvement
  • Ability to ask questions and seek better solutions when something doesn’t look right
  • A great team player with the confidence and ability to work autonomously when required
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and act decisively
  • Adept in liaising with advisers in countries and timezones across the world

 

Requirements

  • Experience of managing VAT compliance in EMEA and APAC jurisdictions
  • Relevant accounting experience
  • CIMA, ACA, ACCA or similar credentials preferred
  • Confidence and ability to interact with management and business stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills to Finance specialists and non-specialists
  • Advanced Excel
  • Previous exposure to NetSuite advantageous
