When you first think about Deliveroo, you probably think of getting great food to your house in less than half an hour.  Awesome right? But behind the scenes is the real story. This story is one of high growth, huge challenges and an enormous opportunity ahead of us. It began with our founder Will, arriving in London over 5 years ago and finding it almost impossible to order great food, despite the wealth of incredible restaurants in the city.  Fast forward 5 years and we operate in 13 countries with over 50,000 riders who deliver orders from 50,000 restaurants in over 200 cities worldwide.

We work with riders, restaurants and consumers. We operate one of the most complex three sided marketplaces in the world and we do this in real time. Millions of customers and thousands of restaurants and riders rely on us to match them within milliseconds. The algorithms behind that marketplace are the secret sauce that allow us to deliver our orders in under 30 minutes.

The scale of the opportunity ahead of us is immense. The global food market is valued at £7.7 trillion but only 1% of it is currently online. The Role

In this role you’ll be helping to solve some of the most challenging and exciting strategic questions we have to answer to become the definitive food business.  

 

Responsibilities

MD & Management Team Support

  • Provide on-going and ad-hoc support to the UK MD including investor, Board and Exec updates, talent & organisation planning

Project work

  • Working closely with the Head of Commercial Development and Strategy on projects for the business as and when they arise
  • Responsible for leading strategic projects end-to-end.   These will typically be ‘Move the needle’ e.g. revenue / orders or cost and efficiencies and ‘Troubleshoot & Fix’ - surface pain-points and broken processes. Diagnose areas of optimisation and demonstrate hypothesis driven problem solving abilities.

Strategic Planning

  • In conjunction with Commercial Finance and Management team manage the development of monthly, quarterly and annual forecasting, performance, budget and headcount processes  
  • Formulation of long term vision and strategy as well as structuring its successful implementation and execution

Competitor tracking

  • Have an understanding of what our competitors are doing at all times: new launches, which geographical areas are they focused on

General administrative responsibilities, including:

  • Preparation of meeting; weekly and monthly assessment  of performance against targets
  • Liaising with other departments across projects (BI, Strategy, Finance)
  • Ongoing assessment of strategic initiatives

 

Requirements

  • 3-4 years’ experience in consulting, banking or in a strategy function at a top-tier FMCG or retail organisation
  • Able to deal with a fast paced environment
  • Proactive
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to build relationships with senior stakeholders
