The Role

This role is part of the People and Culture (P&C) team dedicated to the Gemini App, our conversational AI tool that enables users to collaborate with generative AI and help augment their imagination, expand their curiosity, and enhance their productivity. 

You will partner with a small global team of People & Culture Partners who are responsible for partnering with leaders to drive healthy and high performing teams. You will proactively design and implement  product aligned people and culture solutions that drive high performing teams, aligning the strategy with organizational goals and delivering measurable impact You will also lead cross functional People and Culture (P&C) deliverables, ensuring alignment on complex projects and that People activities support theproduct’s needs. 

Key responsibilities

  • Drive Business Strategy and Outcomes:  Leverage a deep understanding of the organisation's operational, financial and people components to drive people and workforce solutions that ensure the Function is capable of achieving its strategy, outcomes and growth. 
  • Leadership: You will directly partner with GDM’s VP of Engineering, to design and implement their people plan. This will require:
    • Effective and trusted partnership: Provide strategic guidance, translating org requirements into proactive people and culture strategies. 
    • Leadership effectiveness: Assesses leadership and team effectiveness, develops plans and takes action to address gaps.  Coaches/advises leaders individually and as a team
    • Collaboration: Address undefined and ambiguous problems, researching and assessing varied approaches, and leveraging new ideas.
    • Creative problem solving: Implement innovative and considered solutions in a rapidly changing and sometimes ambiguous environment.
    • A data driven approach: Use data and research to make recommendations or implement changes.
  • Change Agent: Influence critical strategies and initiatives to optimise the alignment between people and business objectives.
  • People Partnering Leadership: Drive multiple teams to manage complex issues and create shared solutions. Promote best practices in HR, talent planning, and organisational design.

About You

In order to set you up for success as a People & Culture Partner at Google DeepMind,  we look for the following skills and experience:

  • Extensive experience operating as an HR leader, preferably in a mix of small but scaling businesses and larger, matrixed companies.
  • Experience thought partnering 1:1 with an executive. You are able to build deep levels of trust to effectively influence decision making.
  • Able to effectively navigate organisational complexity. You enjoy changeable environments where you can implement creative and innovative ideas.
  • You enjoy coaching and developing individuals to do their best work and creating a supportive environment for individuals to thrive.
  • You have deep working knowledge across HR functions, including organisational design, learning and development, and reward and performance, and are able to employ this effectively when delivering strategic guidance to leaders.
  • Excellent understanding of human behaviour, including a proven understanding of self.
  • You can turn your hand to most things and if you don’t know the answer you are tenacious in finding out.
  • Ability to travel as needed to offices in North America or EMEA and to occasionally work on different time zones.

In addition, the following would be an advantage:

  • Some experience with post-merger integration and culture change.
  • Experience working within AI or a product organisation and/or working within Alphabet.

 

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $202,000 - $299,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
