What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a Staff Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to play a key role in designing, optimizing, and securing the underlying cloud infrastructure that powers our organization’s cloud environments. As we transition from an on-premise colo environment to a cloud-first model, this role will be instrumental in architecting scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure, ensuring seamless workload migration, and integrating new cloud environments into our ecosystem.

This role focuses on core cloud infrastructure, including networking, identity and access management, security, storage, compute, and cross-cloud integrations. You will collaborate closely with security, infrastructure, and platform engineering teams to ensure our cloud environment adheres to best practices, governance frameworks, and automation-first principles.

What You Will Do

  • Design, implement, and optimize cloud-native infrastructure using best practices for security, scalability, and high availability.
  • Assist with on-prem to cloud migration efforts, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal downtime.
  • Integrate external cloud environments into the organization’s cloud footprint, ensuring security and consistency.
  • Develop and implement hybrid-cloud and cross-cloud connectivity strategies to ensure interoperability.
  • Architect and optimize multi-cloud networking (AWS VPCs, Azure VNets, Transit Gateway, ExpressRoute, PrivateLink, Direct Connect, VPNs).
  • Manage DNS, routing, and traffic management to enable secure, low-latency communication across cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with security teams to enforce Zero Trust networking, IAM, and encryption standards.
  • Implement and manage security controls, including AWS GuardDuty, Security Hub, Azure Defender, NSGs, SGs, WAF, and IAM policies.
  • Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and Ansible, ensuring repeatability and compliance.
  • Implement policy-based automation (AWS SCPs, Azure Policy) to maintain governance across cloud environments.
  • Optimize cloud spending with FinOps best practices, leveraging tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, and right-sizing strategies.
  • Support observability teams with infrastructure monitoring and alerting using CloudWatch, Datadog and Splunk.

What You Need to Succeed

You have deep expertise in cloud infrastructure architecture and operations, with a strong background in AWS and Azure. You have successfully migrated workloads to the cloud, designed secure, scalable, and automated environments, and integrated new cloud platforms into existing ecosystems. You work well across teams, balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where collaboration, problem-solving, and continuous improvement are key.

  • 7+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure architecture.
  • Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, including networking, security, compute, storage, and IAM.
  • Experience migrating workloads from on-prem to cloud and integrating new cloud environments into existing architectures.
  • Deep understanding of multi-cloud networking (AWS VPCs, Azure VNets, Transit Gateway, ExpressRoute, PrivateLink, DNS, hybrid connectivity).
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation (Terraform and Ansible).
  • Strong security knowledge, including IAM, encryption, network security, and compliance frameworks (SOC2, HITRUST, NIST, FedRAMP).
  • Experience managing multi-account cloud governance and security policies (AWS Organizations, Azure Policy, SCPs).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills for cloud networking, security, and performance optimization.

What Helps You Stand Out

  • Experience in hybrid or multi-cloud environments with on-prem connectivity.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud storage solutions (Amazon S3, Azure Blob, EFS, FSx).
  • Knowledge of multi-region architecture and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Background in cloud cost optimization and FinOps methodologies.
  • Experience with cloud-native identity management (AWS IAM Identity Center, Entra ID, RBAC).

Whatever your decision, it will not be considered in the hiring process or thereafter. Any information that you do provide will be recorded and maintained in a confidential file.

As set forth in Datavant’s Equal Employment Opportunity policy, we do not discriminate on the basis of any protected group status under any applicable law.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
