The Role:

Applied Flow Technology (AFT), a Datacor company and world leader in fluid flow analysis applications, is seeking a motivated Technical Writer to join our growing team and help us communicate with our user base. Join us in shaping the next generation of flow analysis tools and push the boundaries of engineering simulation.

*Datacor is a remote first company, so this role is primarily remote. However, if a candidate is already located in Colorado Springs or chooses to relocate to Colorado Springs on their own volition, they will be given the option to work in person at the AFT office. Priority should be given to candidates located in Colorado Springs, and Datacor will not provide relocation assistance to candidates located outside Colorado Springs.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain our customer facing product documentation suite including quick start guides, user guides, reference guides, software demos, technical papers, training materials, release notes, and other written material.
  • Develop processes in MadCap Flare to efficiently utilize existing content and allow for conditional formatting to compile different information for different products.
  • Manage product documentation updates in advance of new product or feature releases.
  • Develop processes to collect technical information from development and support teams to ensure technical topics are appropriately addressed.
  • Support our marketing function with miscellaneous content related items like blogs and newsletters.
  • Review and/or edit content developed by other members of the team to ensure consistency in customer facing content and that documentation meets standards for accuracy, presentation quality, grammar, and composition.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in journalism, communications, or relevant technical field.
  • Strong proficiency with MadCap Flare – setting up, migrating, and maintaining projects.
  • 2-3 years experience working as a technical writer for in an engineering field.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and master complex subject matter.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise documentation for technical subject matter.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, and a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience at a engineering software company preferred.
