Your primary responsibilities will be supporting the deployment and scaling of our global cloud applications. Container orchestration is an important part of the role, with Kubernetes and other cloud native orchestration tools in use. As a platform engineer you will advise development teams on how to best make the use of public cloud resources and support new applications going to production.

Role responsibilities:

As a platform engineer your responsibilities revolve around designing, building, and sustaining our cloud infrastructure using a defined code approach. Day-to-day you’ll be:

  • Collaborating closely with development teams, ensuring that the infrastructure meets their requirements while teaching scalable application practices,
  • Using your expertise in container orchestration tools in the seamless deployment of applications, all while prioritizing reliability, observability, and performance,
  • Staying up to date on the latest technologies, bringing innovative solutions to the team and addressing operational pain points through strategic automation and optimisation efforts,
  • Additionally, your role involves troubleshooting and swiftly resolving any issues that may arise, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted operations.

This role is hybrid with 2 days a week in the Cambridge office.

Candidate requirements

It is likely that candidates will have some previous experience in a relevant role and in a professional capacity will have:

  • Experience writing scripts or applications, ideally in Python,
  • Experience with infrastructure provisioning tools (e.g., Terraform,  CloudFormation) and Infrastructure as Code (IAC) approaches,
  • Good knowledge of basic networking and security concepts,
  • The ability to logically work through problems, correlating and investigating patterns in behaviour and logging,
  • Experience with continuous integration systems CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)
  • Experience working with source control,
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English, both written and spoken
