SUMMARY

 

Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting, the Cost Accountant supports the Financial Reporting function by enhancing the cost accounting function and being a key business partner to operations to drive operational insights. The successful candidate will have a keen interest to learn the operations side of the business and be able to bridge seamlessly between accounting, ERP System/Data and operational processes.

 

Salary: $70-$80K annually

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Responsible for monthly/quarterly/annual COGS month end close and reporting
  • Perform analysis of COGS transactions and provide insights on inventory, direct and indirect costs
  • Support reporting requirements for funding and government credits (SR&ED, grants, etc).
  • Support new product development with analysis and product P&L
  • Perform annual standard cost update and manage standard cost
  • Prepare month-end reconciliation reports and journal entries related to COGS.
  • Update and set up BOMs to reflect changes in raw materials and new products formulation.
  • Recommend and drive continuous improvement projects.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as required.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of progressive Accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Post-secondary education with a focus on financial management.
  • CPA Designated or near completion.
  • Strong understanding of inventory and standard costing.
  • Experience working with complex spreadsheets as well as planning or accounting systems.
  • Understanding of MRP, SQL and ERP systems an asset.
