Position Overview

Daily Harvest is looking for an Associate Sales Manager to join our Retail team. The Associate Sales Manager position is responsible for managing, supporting and leading retail growth with Daily Harvest Grocery partners. This person will exhibit an eagerness to learn and develop their skills within retail account management - both internally and externally. They will be responsible for managing specific customer accounts along with distributor and broker relationships.  Specifically, they will have the opportunity to mold Daily Harvest goals into sales strategies that drive success with existing and prospective grocery retailers. 

This position is responsible for direction, support and management of existing retailer accounts as well as the development of new business and relationships. Inclusive of: building and maintaining key relationships (inclusive of retailer and broker teams), managing grocery sales strategy and execution in key markets. Accountable for achievement of retail sales volume, distribution doors, and trade spend.

What you’ll do:

  • SELLING / RESULTS: 
    • Develop and deliver customer presentations, business reviews, and strategic promotional plans to sell in and support distribution gains and assortment velocities 
    • Deliver / exceed established sales targets and quotas on time and within trade budget parameters
    • Build / maintain customer facing relationships with our grocery retail partners
    • Understand multiple customers, go-to market strategies, structure and business practices for execution
  • COMMUNICATION / CROSS FUNCTIONAL: 
    • Manage direct communication and strategy with buyers, distributors, brokers and sales reps
    • Collaborate with customer operations to execute and deliver sales and inventory to distributors and independent retailers 
  • FINANCIAL ACUMEN: 
    • Develop sales, trade management, forecasting and negotiation skills with internal and external partners
    • Monitor retailer performance (KPIs, metrics, and scorecards)
  • ANALYTICS / PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
      • Develop and execute retailer assessments, strategies and execution plans for targeted accounts
      • Utilize data sources to capitalize on sales opportunities, continuous improvement on forecast accuracy, build stronger storytelling

Who you are:

  • Minimum 1-3  years sales related work experience in consumer packaged goods sales
  • Ability to execute and drive sales through selling, negotiating, building relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external to deliver mutually beneficial business results 
  • Proven capability to collaborate cross functionally and externally (customer operations, finance, marketing, distributor, retailer) through strong communication skills and partnership
  • Understanding of basic trade math, consumption data, trade spend, sales reports, promo spend and funding, etc.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills; ability to synthesize large amounts of data into action, think and plan strategically, lead to winning execution
  • Desire to thrive in an entrepreneurial, and agile environment with a positive, tenacious, and resilient attitude; self-motivated, flexible, and not afraid to challenge the status quo; while humbly learning and growing  
  • Proficient with GoogleSuite and MS Office Suite, SPINS (and/or other syndicated data sources)
  • Remote position with 20%-30% travel (customer meetings, HQ, trade shows, etc.)

The anticipated annual base salary range for this role is $75,000 - $100,000. Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skills.
