As we expand our team, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior AI Expert to contribute to our ambitious projects and initiatives.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal Scientist specializing in AI and machine learning, with a Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field. This role demands a profound understanding of biological data analysis and extensive experience in building supervised learning models, particularly regression and classification models. Expertise in utilizing machine learning for the classification, regression, and clustering of complex metabolomic, proteomic, and flow cytometry/FACS data is highly desired. Additionally, proficiency in applying large language models (LLMs) and integrating them with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) models to address scientific questions is essential.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Director, Discovery Technologies, lead the development of strategic directions for utilizing LLM and RAG model technologies, directly contributing to drug discovery program goals
- Responsible for leading the implementation of LLM AI solutions
- Partner with Director of Discovery Technologies, lead AI implementations, infrastructure, and processes that support research growth objectives
- Drive research efforts within the Biological Sciences by implementing advanced machine learning and deep learning algorithms to solve complex problems, enhancing our research programs and projects including supervised, unsupervised analysis, visualization, LLM reasoning, and occasional image analysis, particularly in phenotypic screening and cell imaging.
- Utilize regression models for predictors in biological data analysis, deriving meaningful insights and predictions from large-scale datasets
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to define project objectives, design experimental frameworks, and deliver innovative solutions that impact research discovery programs
- Lead data preprocessing, feature extraction, and dimensionality reduction efforts to optimize model performance and scalability
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in AI, machine learning, bioinformatics, and cheminformatics, integrating emerging technologies and methodologies into workflows
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to colleagues, fostering a collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment
- Evaluate and compare different machine learning frameworks and libraries to identify the most suitable tools for specific tasks
- Contribute to the development and documentation of best practices, standards, and guidelines for AI and machine learning within the organization
- Communicate findings and results effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through presentations, reports, and documentation
- Responsible for project conception to deployment, ensuring high-quality and reliable solutions are delivered on time and within budget
- Report regularly to the Director of Discovery Technologies on project progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement, providing strategic insights and recommendations

Qualifications
- D. in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a relevant discipline with 12+ years of experience, including leadership roles within the machine learning and AI field, with a focus on large-scale datasets and cutting-edge machine learning techniques for developing accurate and robust supervised learning models
- Proven expertise in building supervised learning models, focusing on regression and classification for biological data analysis, including proteomics, metabolomics, and flow cytometry/FACS
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R, and experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences through verbal, written, and presentation mediums
- A proactive and results-driven approach, with a passion for continuous learning and innovation
- Preferred experience with cloud-based machine learning platforms such as Amazon SageMaker or Apache Spark-based solutions like Databricks
- Preferred experience using AWS Bedrock with RAG model and Graph Database integration
- Familiarity with other Amazon Cloud AWS services
