Position Summary:
Cygnal Therapeutics is seeking a Scientist with a strong background within in vivo preclinical pharmacology and animal model development to play a significant role in designing and executing in vivo studies. The Scientist will play a vital role in the company’s efforts to advance the science of Exoneural Biology. The candidate must be independent, goal oriented, have excellent communication skills and be willing to work in a highly dynamic and fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
 
Basic Qualifications:
  • M.S. with 5+ years (Sr. Associate, Associate Scientist), or Ph.D. (Associate Scientist, Scientist) with 2+ years in pharmacology, animal science, immunology, neurobiology or related discipline.
  • Expertise in designing and independently executing broad sets of in vivo experiments required to validate or identify novel targets for cancer and immune disease.
  • Assist with training of new hires
  • Execute, troubleshoot, and optimize in vivo study protocols, IACUC protocols, internal SOP, and survey scientific literature to inform the development of additional in vivo assays.
  • Strong rodent animal handling skills and hands-on in vivo pharmacology skills, including dosing (IV, SC, IP, and PO), cell line work, preparation of test compounds, dosing, anesthesia, necropsy, blood and tissue collection for PK and PD biomarker analysis
  • Familiar with immune-oncology models, inflammatory disease models
  • Highly skilled in small animal surgery, such as orthotopic implantation of tumor cells into various organs of rodents
  • Adaptive and a quick learner, Efficient in multi-tasking and trouble-shooting, highly organized and good record keeping, excellent interpersonal and communication skills to excel in the teamwork environment. The ability and strong desire to "do what it takes to make things happen” attitude. Demonstrate the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities to meet project deadlines and flexibility to react quickly to changing research needs
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Small rodents microsurgery experience: sciatic nerve crush, optic nerve crush, spinal cord injury, in-utero electroporation
  • Necropsy experience: DRG dissection, sympathetic chain ganglia dissection, enteric nervous system dissection
  • Viral delivery experience: AAV intracranial injection
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner.
  • Eager to work with highly-skilled and dynamic teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and technical setting.
