The Position
Cygnal is seeking a Research Associate to help us advance the novel science of Exoneural Biology in Oncology via model development, target ID and validation and drug discovery. The candidate must be highly motivated, creative, goal oriented, and able to efficiently complete multiple projects in parallel. The candidate will assist the oncology team with the execution of multiple projects including novel assay development, in vitro proof-of concept, and in vivo translational studies. The candidate should be enthusiastic, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • Carry out experiments to validate and optimize novel screening platforms
  • Follow experimental approaches for target identification and validation in vitro and in vivo
  • Execute experiments, generate and analyze data, and communicate data to scientific team and executive management
  • Collaborate with other scientists and research associates to achieve company objectives
Skills & Abilities
  • General cell and molecular biology skills including western blotting, qPCR, ELISA and cell culture
  • Creative, independent, self-motivated and curious.
  • Highly adaptable and responsive to technical and business opportunities and needs – comfortable delivering against challenging commitments.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying information in a clear and thorough manner.
  • Confident, execution focused, team oriented, with an ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Preferred qualifications: Experience in innovative assay development, e.g. co-culture assays, high throughput imaging read-outs, etc.
  • Preferred qualifications: Experience in target validation, using both genetic tools and compounds for target manipulation.
  • Preferred qualifications: Experience with primary cell culture, e.g. neuronal cell culture
Education & Experience
  • B.S. or equivalent in the biological sciences, bioengineering, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of relevant laboratory experience, in academic, pharmaceutical or biotechnology settings.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with highly skilled teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and technical setting.
