Curology is the largest player in the customized skincare space. Over the last 12 months alone, we grew revenue 300% and doubled headcount. In January 2018, we closed a new round of VC funding, which has allowed us to continue this rapid pace of growth. The Curology team is looking to hire a highly motivated Accounting Manager in our San Francisco office who is eager to own accounting operations at a high growth company. The Accounting Manager will lead the implementation of scalable accounting workflows to support our rapid growth trajectory.                                 

As the Accounting Manager, you will report to the Controller and your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage a timely and reliable accounting close process in line with GAAP
  • Own all technical accounting methodologies and perform technical accounting research for topics including but not limited to revenue, COGS, OPEX, inventory
  • Oversee accounting data integrity and optimize systems including Stripe, Bill.com, Expensify, and Fishbowl
  • Ensure financial reporting readiness for new product launches
  • Lead solutions to enhance the speed and reliability of our financial reporting and act as project manager for all financial and inventory system implementations
  • Oversee consistent expense categorization and facilitate tracking of expenses against budget
  • Facilitate tax reporting and filings with external tax firm, including sales/use, local, state, and federal taxes
  • Support our first external financial audit and coordinate with audit firm
  • Create and implement scalable corporate policies and internal controls

What we're looking for:

  • 7+ years’ progressive experience in GAAP accounting; previous role(s) should include 3+ years corporate accounting at a rapidly growing company
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
  • Experience required with QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Expensify
  • Experience preferred with ADP or similar payroll solutions; system implementation experience is a plus (Netsuite, Intacct, etc.)
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience required with inventory accounting (FIFO), and experienced preferred in tracking inventory through Fishbowl and associated sales/use tax in Avalara
  • Experience preferred with accounting for multiple corporate entities
  • Managerial experience and exposure to mentoring junior team members
  • Experience with undergoing a financial audit is preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize appropriately and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information
  • You understand that there’s no such thing as a “typical day” for a startup; you consider yourself flexible, proactive, and patient
