The Compliance Specialist will assist the Director of Compliance and Compliance Manager with ensuring compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures; review process maps and supporting standard operating procedures (SOPs) prepared by Retail, Operations and Cultivation for marijuana regulatory approval.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Review process maps and standard operating procedures for cannabis regulatory requirements
  • Provide feedback to business partners regarding recommended modification of processes and practices to ensure compliance following state law
  • Assist with investigations when appropriate
  • Liaise with central compliance office to report any legal/regulatory concerns, stay abreast of regulatory updates, and best practices
  • Conduct internal inspections/audits of cultivation and dispensary operations to mitigate any risks that could lead to violations, fines, and loss of cannabis license
  • Collaborate with Compliance Director and Compliance Manager to Develop Compliance standards for critical processes
  • Collaborate with Compliance Director and Cultivation Compliance Manager to Develop Compliance training
  • Assist with regular internal regulatory inspections/audits and make recommendations for improvements to the business
  • Partner with the business to determine necessary corrective action measures and implementation timelines, as well as drafting plans of correction to regulatory agencies
  • Communicate all regulatory compliance-related issues to employees in a clear, consistent, and effective way
  • Assists in the development of an internal inspection/audit plan and schedule and perform all internal inspections/audits per schedule
  • Draft internal inspection/audit reports and follow-up documents promptly
  • Serves as a resource for business partners regarding changes in cannabis regulations
  • Supports and executes Curaleaf’s mission and goals
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other departments/team members (business partners)
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Associates Degree in any business-related capacity or equivalent experience (healthcare, pharma, business management, bio) preferred
  • Experience working in a regulatory environment
  • Experience in reviewing Process Maps and SOP’s
  • General knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements
  • Meticulous attention to detail is required. Detail oriented, accurate, organized, and analytical
  • Proficient in spreadsheet and data management software, strong Excel skills
  • Experience in staff training and development desired
  • Efficient in state-mandated cannabis software programs (Metrc, BioTrack, MMJ)
  • A reliable car is required for travel to different sites within the states
  • Strong process management skills
  • Subject to background check per state cannabis regulations
  • Skilled in working with technical experts
