Data Engineer

In this position, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing ETLs, stored procedures and data integrations within our MySQL database environment. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, develop robust data pipelines, and ensure the integrity and reliability of our data infrastructure.

As Data Engineer, you will:

  • Design, build and maintain highly complex ETLs and stored procedure
  • Implement data quality assurance measures to ensure data integrity and consistency
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues
  • Document ETL processes, database schemas, and data flow diagrams for knowledge sharing
  • Participate in capacity planning, monitoring and upgrade of database servers
  • Provide database insights which contribute to the development of application requirements
  • Continual improvement of the development processes within NousCubane
  • Collaborate with internal teams and NousCubane clients to ensure that the developed database schemas and queries meet with their expectations.

A bit about you: 

  • Strong academics, with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar
  • 3+ years’ experience in database development experience (in either MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle etc.) including: implementation and tuning experience of databases; strong knowledge of schema design, query tuning and optimization; data migration and integration.
  • Demonstrated experience working: on large-scale database projects; as a database, data warehouse or big data developer; scripting / programming experience in database related fields
  • Experience working with Agile development principles.
  • Excellent skills writing complex SQL stored procedures (preferably using MySQL)
  • Familiar with database architecture principles and design patterns
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to diagnose and identify root causes of complex software and system problems
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and take initiative within a team environment
  • A proactive approach to self-education in new areas as technology evolves.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Python scripting is highly regarded.
