As a Lead Systems Designer focusing on Combat, you'll play a pivotal role in developing gameplay systems that engage our worldwide players. You'll meticulously design and adjust dynamic player experiences that align with our vision, delivering unmatched gameplay moments.
As a Lead Combat Systems Designer, you will:
- Lead your team in creating impactful combat mechanics, ensuring engaging and immersive player experiences.
- Engage in meaningful dialogues with fellow designers and leadership, transforming multifaceted design concepts into actual gameplay elements.
- Work closely with Engineers and Animators to create engaging combat mechanics.
- Collaborate with Level Designers, keeping them informed about the evolving design perspectives related to Combat.
- Adjust and hone gameplay features, always bearing in mind the project's timelines, technical boundaries, and overarching goals.
- Manage and mentor a team of designers, fostering their growth and ensuring high performance.
- Set clear goals and expectations for direct reports, providing actionable feedback and development opportunities.
- Ensure comprehensive documentation, providing a clear guide for the team.
- Collaborate with Production to form smart milestone goals, and task assignments that play to team strengths.
To be considered for this role, we require the following:
- Experience as a Lead or Principal Systems Designer (or equivalent), developing combat mechanics for high-fidelity games.
- Proven experience managing and mentoring a team of direct reports, with a focus on driving individual and group performance.
- Expert understanding of game design methodologies.
- Hands on expertise with visual scripting tools such as Kismet, Blueprint, or their equivalents.
- Comprehensive insight into animation systems or a demonstrated track record of collaborative endeavors with animation units.
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- Experience creating systems for AAA FPS games for PC/Console.
- Advanced proficiency with Unreal Engine.
It'll be a bonus if you also have:
- Shipped multiple AAA titles.
The pay range for this role includes the annual base salary, not including bonus and the generous benefits package that Crystal Dynamics provides all full-time employees. Individual compensation is determined by work location within our approved states or regions, as well as additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education.
