About the role

We are seeking a Manager of Technical Program Management, to join our Video Engineering group and lead our dynamic team. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Technical Program Management, you will oversee a portfolio of programs dedicated to advancing video engineering services, ensuring a scalable and reliable video experience across various multiple Crunchyroll applications.  In this hands-on role, you will also apply your expertise in agile ceremonies, program management of software development, and video services release management to lead the achievement of company strategic objectives.

We are considering applicants for our San Fransisco, Culver City or Dallas office. 

A day in the life of our Technical Program Management Team:

  • Manage multiple complex technical projects concurrently, focusing on video infrastructure development.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Program Management, Product Management, Core Engineering, Quality, Infrastructure Engineering, and Product Design to promote and evolve processes for synchronized delivery.
  • Build and lead a team of program managers assigned to various backend services, promoting development and growth.
  • Facilitate scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to drive team accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Plan and execute high-impact programs, overseeing progress and coordinating release plans across multiple engineering initiatives.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate program risks, remove blockers, and seek leadership support when necessary.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to identify and manage dependencies early, working with stakeholders to address them effectively.
  • Communicate program and initiative status effectively to leadership, ensuring clarity and alignment.

About You

  • 4+ years of experience in technical program management and 3+ years of management experience, with a strong emphasis in software development. Video engineering, specifically, is a plus.
  • Proven experience leading a team of Program Managers to deliver cross-functional solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large and complex programs, delivering technical solutions across multiple project teams.
  • Collaborative approach in defining both short-term and long-term technical strategies.
  • Solid background in software development processes and Agile SDLC.
  • Ability to navigate contending product and technical priorities, identifying options and trade-offs effectively.
  • Proficiency in defining outcomes, creating plans, qualifying success, mitigating risks, and communicating with multiple team members.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with quick adaptation to changing priorities.
  • Experience in designing and implementing cross-functional process changes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences effectively.
  • Quick learner, innovative, proactive, flexible, and adaptable.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • Prior experience in a software development role is a plus.

The Video Engineering teams are dedicated to building and maintaining the video infrastructure of the Crunchyroll application ecosystem, ensuring a top-tier anime experience for our global audience. Our mission is to deliver a robust and dependable video experience that captivates and engages our viewers, partners, and team members. We embody Crunchyroll's collaborative spirit and work with various teams to engineer scalable solutions that can be shared across all application platforms.

The Program Management Organization is a distributed team responsible for orchestrating Crunchyroll’s initiatives. We work to standardize Agile methodologies for the organization, promote process improvements, and lead cross-team communications. Committed to innovation and collaboration, our team strives to deliver exceptional results and maintain Crunchyroll's position as the leading provider of anime and manga content worldwide.

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees.
