The MP&C Architecture and Acceleration team designs and develops maintainable, extensible and scalable software to drive development of our Motion Planning and Controls stack. The team owns the architecture, tools, and frameworks to accelerate development and testing of algorithms, improving diagnostics coverage, and facilitating data analysis and requirements validation. As a member of this team you will improve organizational efficiency by building automation tools and shared libraries that will be used across engineering teams.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Accelerate effectiveness and efficiency by designing and implementing scalable automation tools for test creation, data collection and analysis, debugging, and performance monitoring
  • Own the architecture of the Motion Planning and Controls Stack and work closely with domain specialists in creating an efficient and performant framework for implementing Controls and Motion Planning algorithms that control the AV
  • Design and implement extensible and well-tested shared libraries that will be used by many engineers across the organization
  • Design and implement spoofers and test tools for characterizing system and subsystem performance
  • Work with domain engineers in Motion Planning and Controls to accelerate development and testing. Collaborate with Frameworks and Data Infra teams to build and deploy tools to improve productivity.

What you must have: 

  • You're comfortable writing C++ (unit testing, algorithm performance and tradeoffs, etc.)
  • You should be familiar with Python
  • Education requirements for interns?

Bonus points!

  • Practical familiarity with closed-loop control systems, numerical optimization and/or signal processing
  • Familiarity with ROS, NumPy/SciPy, and plotting/visualization libraries
  • Experience in code optimization or high performance computing
