As a Fleet Operations Engineer at Cruise, you will play a critical role spanning the electromechanical ecosystem. You’ll have exposure at the component, subassembly, system and subsystem level, supporting the design and execution of test programs, test plans and procedures including calibration, characterization and performance. This position, based in our South San Francisco facility, requires a self-starter comfortable with minimal direction.

Candidates with transferable skills and experience from a crossover industry, such as aerospace / avionics, UAVs / drones, robotics, automated manufacturing, or medical devices should apply.
Actively and regularly participate in development and execution of testing programs relating to hardware and electrical components (bonus points for compute background)
Conduct initial bring-up, system debugging and troubleshooting
Implement and rigorously follow protocols
Detect and document anomalies for further investigation
Report test results using a variety of software applications
Identify problems with processes, equipment, or test components and proactively report progress or issues
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and engineers of various disciplines across the company
Evaluate and analyze hardware performance to support development and safety
Support implementation of safety methodology, documentation, requirements, and tests
Other responsibilities as assigned
BS or higher in mechanical or electrical engineering
2+ years of industry experience
Experience working with various sensors
Experience with mechatronics
Technical troubleshooting background
Incredibly high attention to detail
Passionate about self-driving technology and its potential impact on the world
Willingness to work with documentation engineers to document all processes
Solve difficult problems that have immediate and valuable real-world applications
