Cruise is looking for a Systems Engineer to help us manage requirements for the interface between Autonomous Driver and Host Vehicle which will change how the requirements are collected, developed and tested. In this position, you will interact with our Embedded Systems Engineering, Hardware Engineering, AV Robotics, and Test Engineering teams. If you're interested in working with the autonomous vehicle platform that supports the computation and the communication architecture for our autonomous vehicles.

This is a good opportunity for individuals to apply transferable skills and experience from another industry, such as aerospace / avionics, defense, industrial, power, telecommunications, UAVs / drones, robotics, automated manufacturing, or medical instrumentation.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Drive the requirement's definition, analysis, development, and documentation of autonomous driving feature requirements for hardware components and systems working with the host vehicle
  • Translate autonomous driving systems guidance into testable component requirements and design specifications (should understand connecting system level requirements to component level requirements)
  • Conduct and participate in feature, system and component requirement analysis
  • Review test plans and verify test results that ensures upstream traceability to requirements
  • Lead technical discussions, build and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams, and internal/external partners
  • Support hands-on vehicle test preparation and debugging of platform issues

What you must have:

  • 3+ years of postgraduate experience in Systems Engineering or similar role related to automotive engineering
  • BS Degree or MS Degree in Engineering or other STEM field
  • Experience in breaking down feature level requirements to system/subsystem requirements
  • Strong understanding of requirements management across V design cycle
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, JAMA, Rhapsody, etc.
  • Experience with safety analysis including (D)FMEAs, fault tree analysis and hazard analysis

Bonus Points!

  • Knowledge in vehicle E/E architecture including familiarity (Automotive Ethernet, CAN, LIN, FlexRay) with communication architecture, power distribution and actuation
  • Experience with fault management strategies like redundancy schemes, state management etc.
  • Experience with ROS operating system
