If you are looking to play a part in making a positive impact in the world by advancing the revolutionary work of self-driving cars, join us.

We’re looking for an experienced Director of Partnerships for Operating Infrastructure to deliver the operating infrastructure we’ll need to scale our service. We are building a vertically-integrated ride-hailing network and launching a delivery service to serve partners across multiple verticals. Within a decade, we aim to have 1M+ safe and clean vehicles on the ground in communities across the globe. With this size of fleet comes significant operating infrastructure needs such as charging, parking, maintenance and calibration. You will lead our relationships across a spectrum of industries, ranging from pure-play EV charging providers to parking lot operators and real estate owners. This is an unparalleled opportunity to bring your partnership and team-building visions to life as the founding member of this crucial team.

If you are looking to solve one of today’s most complex engineering challenges, see the results of your work in hundreds of thousands of self-driving cars, and make a positive impact in the world starting in our cities, join us.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Deliver an installed base of operating infrastructure (charging, parking, maintenance, etc.) to scale to 1M vehicles over the next 10 years at the lowest possible cost. Success will be defined by the amount of installed infrastructure, not the number of agreements signed.
  • Execute compelling partnership agreements that benefit both Cruise and our partners.
  • Manage partner relationships from initial discussions and relationship management through execution and partner management. Build strong long term relationships with partners.
  • Develop Cruise’s partnership and business development strategy based on analysis, research, and understanding of our overall strategy and goals. Build consensus for recommendations with internal teams and executives.
  • Recruit, hire and build out a world-class team of 5-10 partnership experts serving a range of industries (e.g. pure-play EV charging, legacy energy providers, local authorities). Your ability to attract and retain great talent is a necessary ingredient for success in this role.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, legal, business operations, marketing, and finance to support partnership development and management.
  • You’ll do all of the above while working closely with and reporting directly into senior leadership of our Commercial Operations organization

What you must have:

  • 10+ years of experience in business development or partnership roles, ideally in the technology and/or transportation industries.
  • Proven track record of developing strategic partnerships, negotiating agreement terms and seeing agreements through to execution.
  • Proven ability to handle ambiguity, work collaboratively with internal and partner contacts, influence cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills with technical, contractual and financial acumen.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort communicating directly with senior executives and in a fast-paced, sometimes unpredictable environment.
  • Proven track record of hiring and mentoring junior team members.

Bonus Points!

  • Specific partnership and/or industry experience in energy and infrastructure
  • Experience building new teams from the ground up

  • Experience negotiating creative partnership agreements, with significant technical, legal and commercial complexity
