Cruise is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to help us manage the requirements for our Autonomous Vehicle Telematics unit which will impact how the vehicle communicates with our riders, fleet, and infrastructure.

What you'll be doing: 

  • Chart out the communication strategy between cross functional systems such as autonomous vehicle to fleet and infrastructure
  • Drive the requirements definition, analysis, development and documentation of telematics systems
  • Understand the impact of rider interaction on telematics systems, and define required features/functionalities
  • Translate system requirements and implementation architecture into testable product requirements and design specifications 
  • Conduct and participate in feature and system safety analysis
  • Create test plans that ensure upstream traceability to system and subsystem requirements
  • Lead technical discussions and manage relationships with relevant stakeholders

What you must have:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other related STEM field
  • 7+ years experience in Systems Engineering for telematics components and architecture
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, JAMA, etc.
  • Experience in designing system-level telematics architecture, and understanding the impact of systems choice on hardware and software requirements
  • Ability to understand complex technical systems, specifically relating to vehicle components and wireless communications including WiFi, Cellular and Bluetooth
  • Strong technical and communication skills
  • Solid presentation, writing and documentation skills  
  • Ability to identify and act on opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency

Bonus points!

  • Experience with safety analysis including (D)FMEAs, fault tree analysis and hazard analysis 
  • Experience with test execution on Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and system benches
  • Experience with system security concepts including device initiation, authentication, authorization and accounting, as well as message security using TLS, 802.1x etc
