About the role:

We are looking for a Staff Software Development Engineer in Test who loves to write and break code. You’ll be a leader in test and a mentor on how Product Engineering tests — from front end web applications to large distributed backend APIs. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and can thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Strategic planning and testing across multiple divisions, teams, and products
  • Participating in quarterly planning exercises to ensure the SDET team has representation and to advocate for priorities and best practices
  • Setting up gates, processes, and frameworks to prevent regression and increase confidence before shipping
  • Supporting developers by architecting, developing test frameworks, automating tests, and developing test cases for product features
  • Working with development teams to put the right testing processes in place for new and existing projects
  • Reviewing features and identifying test gaps
  • Constantly pushing for quality improvement in all of our products

Requirements:

  • 10+ years experience as a software engineer
  • Experience architecting and developing test frameworks from scratch 
  • Experience decomposing monolithic architectures into microservices
  • Experience in Docker/containerization
  • Focus on shipping projects and focus on quality from the start
  • Experience communicating across departments and being a leader
  • Solid knowledge of object-oriented design, API design, service orientation, Node.js (or equivalent)
  • Solid knowledge of SQL and creating complex, yet performant, queries
  • Familiarity with the “testing pyramid”  and able to make recommendations to developers around what testing methodologies are most appropriate (Unit vs. Integration vs. End-to-End)
  • Experience deploying, implementing, logging, monitoring, and alerting in order to maintain SLAs

Bonus points:

  • Experience with the Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Experience testing mobile Apps
  • Interest in autonomous technology
