About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Vehicle Test Engineer to join the Vehicle Testing team.  This role will be responsible for designing, coordinating and performing tests to ensure that our vehicle, its subsystems, and its components are achieving the high-level of performance expected of them to safely operate on the road.  

As a Vehicle Test Engineer, you will perform hands-on problem solving alongside your team, becoming the domain expert and go-to person for all things related to Autonomous Vehicle Testing.

 Day-to-day responsibilities include

  • Design, develop, and test autonomous vehicle systems, subsystems and components
  • Lead cross-functional efforts and align stakeholders on a variety of complex issues, affecting vehicle testing on hardware, firmware, integration, and the vehicle system
  • Optimize the systems and processes to ensure that vehicle tests performed with high quality and reliability
  • Design electromechanical testing environments at the vehicle and system level to validate new hardware designs, improve AV safety, reliability, and performance, and develop new calibration techniques. 
  • Train and mentor other vehicle test engineers in order to improve how they solve problems, conduct tests, and improve testing safety, reliability, and performance
  • Balance resources and prioritize work for the team to meet goals and metrics
  • Support in defining testing requirements and design and executing test plans
  • Collaborate with hardware, calibration, and other engineering teams to support all Cruise program goals
  • Work with our partners to improve testing at remote facilities 
  • Drive a culture of safety at all times

You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience and a deep understanding of vehicle testing and design of experiments
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace or equivalent engineering field
  • Experience building test equipment and test plans
  • Experience with sensors, calibration, and/or automotive preferred
  • Ability to lead cross-functional projects in an ambiguous environment
