About the role:

Building and maintaining a fully autonomous vehicle requires significant departures from a normal vehicle in terms of assembly, calibration, configuration, and testing.

The Systems Test Engineer will help test and validate equipment and processes for calibrating autonomous vehicles. This role is primarily test engineering but will also touch on system integration, hardware engineering, and software engineering.

Senior roles are available depending on relevant experience.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Support calibration software and hardware development and deployment by conducting system characterization, exploratory testing, requirements definition, and verification testing (EVT, DVT, PVT).
  • Identify testing needs, create test plans, and lead calibration technicians to execute tests.
  • Perform data analysis, document and present results, and propose design changes or further testing.
  • Spec and source test instrumentation.
  • Evaluate calibration infrastructure performance through characterization and sensitivity studies.
  • Manage contract lab testing and analyses.
  • Work with vehicles engineers to perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis on complex integrated systems being tested.

You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or another related field.
  • 1+ years' experience in exploratory and validation test design, test execution, and data analysis.
  • Experience defining and validating hardware requirements for a complex system.
  • Proficiency with a scripting language (Python, MATLAB, etc).
  • Strong spatial comprehension and computational skills.
  • Passion for building self-driving technology and understand its potential impact on the world.

Bonus points!

  • Familiarity with AV sensor technologies and calibration highly preferred.
  • Experience using Linux and ROS.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git, SVN, etc).
