About the role:
 
Cruise is looking for a Charging Project Manager to help create and implement the charging energy strategy that fuels our 100% electric fleet. In this position, you will be the focal point for charging energy costs and will collaborate with teams across the company to optimize them. You will also identify and mature charging-related incentive program opportunities. In coordination with our Deployments, Government Relations, and Operational Strategy teams, you lead relationships with electric utilities, drive energy cost optimization and incentive participation, and support creative off-grid solutions where appropriate. Day-to-day responsibilities Include:

  • Lead strategic relationships with electric utilities and manage utility-related initiatives
  • Collaborate with external parties to drive rate optimization and development of commercial electric vehicle (EV) electricity tariffs
  • Identify, develop and manage charging-related incentive programs and other cost-down initiatives, as applicable
  • Collaborate with internal teams to drive regulatory and legislative policy impacting tariffs and incentives
  • Guide charging deployment by identifying grid-level constraints and opportunities in target markets
  • Be a thought leader on current and emerging best practices in electrical generation, transmission, and distribution
  • Evaluate and actualize off-grid electrical generation approaches
  • Collaborate on our EV charging strategy and prioritization of initiatives
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the company to uncover opportunities for improvement

You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience with electric utilities and rates
  • Strong understanding of electricity tariffs, rate design principles, and EV rate environment
  • Holistic understanding of electric grid design and operation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate with a high level of autonomy and balance multiple projects
  • Comfort with ambiguity and changes in decision-making inputs
  • Comfortable with occasional travel
  • Passionate about self-driving technology and its potential impact on the world
  • BS or BA in relevant field

Bonus points!

  • Experience with Power Purchase Agreements, Community Choice Aggregation, Demand Response, and other rate optimization mechanisms
  • Experience with charging-related financial incentives, including utility make-ready/charger rebate infrastructure programs or emissions/carbon credit programs
  • Experience with off-grid generation technologies
