About the role: 

Cruise is looking for a lead for our Systems Engineering Autonomous Vehicle Controls team to guide the development and management of our autonomous vehicle control requirements.

In this position, you will work cross-functionally and across the Cruise and GM organizations.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:
  • Building strategy in team development and growth
  • Managing individual contributor reports, and resolving conflicts both within your team and between teams
  • Building and managing relationships with all relevant stakeholders
  • Working with engineers, technical program managers, and data services to define outcome metrics and success criteria
  • Creating, managing and tracing testable requirements
  • Developing validation plans and manage execution
  • Communicating across teams and outside agencies about team progress & needs
  • Guiding team on technical automotive controls
  • Routinely putting together summaries of product progress

You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, or another relevant engineering field
  • 7-10+ years of industry experience in a fast-paced tech company
  • Previous experience leading engineering teams
  • Knowledge of automotive controls systems, including tuning and debugging
  • Knowledge of how mechanical, electrical, and software engineering components behave and interact together in a complex electromechanical system
  • Previously played a key implementation role in shipping a complex system at scale and understand the difference between building small-scale prototypes and scaling for mass production
  • Ability to adapt and operate under ambiguity
  • Experience communicating with technical and nontechnical teams
  • Ability to identify and act on opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency
