About the role:

Cruise is looking for a System Integrity Engineer to lead the integration of operational requirements across the organization. You will have a direct say in making sure our fleet operates with integrity.

In this position, you will work cross-functionally and across the Cruise and GM organization, including our global markets teams, legal, engineering, integrity, product, as well as vehicle engineering at GM.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Work cross-functionally to ensure our fleet of autonomous cars operate with integrity at scale
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, algorithm developers and manufacturing teams to transition calibration and bring-up techniques from R&D to production scale
  • Develop the requirements to ensure our fleet is operationally safe, and ensure robust execution
  • Develop the processes to ensure the ongoing integrity of our autonomous fleet
  • Identify, diagnose, and find solutions to system level technical problems
  • Participate in the design of experiments, equipment, and processes for improving electromechanical system designs, calibration and integration processes, data analysis, and automated testing
  • Conduct segmentation and decomposition of complex engineering problems, breaking them down into manageable solutions

You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications:

  • Previous commercial experience ( 5-10+ years ) in systems integration working closely with mechanical, electrical, and software teams on electromechanical systems
  • Previous experience of ISO26262 or equivalent functional safety framework in a product development environment
  • Previous experience of DFMEA, FTA, and other quality processes
  • Knowledge of automotive diagnostics (DTC), and practical debugging
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with system level assembly, bring-up, and calibration
  • Deep understanding of how mechanical, electrical, and software engineering components behave and interact together in a complex electromechanical system
  • Previously played a key implementation role in shipping a complex system at scale and understand the difference between building small scale prototypes and scaling for mass production
  • Able to work quickly but thoroughly, with strong attention to detail
  • Able to ramp up quickly on numerous new and unfamiliar technical areas
  • Exceptional analytical problem solving skills, able to identify and surface issues within complex HW/SW systems
  • Able to identify gaps and troubleshoot issues on multiple aspects of a system
  • Understanding of engineering concepts such as system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance
  • BS, MS, PhD in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Software) or other applicable technical degree

Bonus points!

  • Previous hands-on experience with autonomous or robotic systems
  • Experience with the automotive industry, product development or service
  • Familiarity with processing large sized test results (statistical analysis)
  • Familiarity with operational safety protocols
