Hiring Position/Job Title:          [Footwear] Sr. Sourcing Engineer

(Merchandise, Trims, Packaging & Labeling)

Report to:                                 Project Sourcing Manager

Department:                            HEYDUDE Sourcing & Product Execution

Hiring Location/ Country:        Vietnam

(Responsibility for HeyDude T2 factories in Vietnam & overseas (Cambodia, India, Indonesia, China)

What will you do?

I - PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

• Assist in the creation of materials/trims for your key categories that are appropriate for price, end use, physical properties, source, and aesthetics to achieve better traceability, transparency and quality.
• Assist the team in all aspects of development, tracking and timely commercialization.
• Utilizing textile/trims, product construction and process knowledge to anticipate potential problems, facilitate problem solving, manage project execution and meet deadlines.
• To Monitor and track material development projects to ensure commercialization within stated timelines.

II - KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with Product Development team in US in seasonal category creative direction decisions and meetings. Enable creative objectives through operational activities including vendor validation and material article validation. Drive and enable new material development.
• Provide technical assistance to US Product Development teams as it relates to the application of footwear trims and packaging.
• Assist categories with application of materials. Provide a perspective with an understanding of colorfastness, bonding, abrasion, and other performance related mechanical material issues.
• Collaborate with Material Manager, Sourcing to manage capacity on key volume and / or innovation materials.
• Create and manage category material palettes/catalogues with T2 suppliers to share with US Design team.
• Serve as primary category contact for material suppliers as it relates to category specific issues (price, technical specs, performance)
• Create and maintain material development tools.
• Collaborate and working closely with US Product Development Tean and Asia Product Execution Team.

IV - JOB REQUIREMENTS:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

1. Experience:

• 3+ years’ experience in Footwear or Apparel Industry
• Experience working with shoe manufacturing factory or materials manufacturing factory.
• Lab Testing and global materials experience is a plus.

1. Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of textile formation, yarn, fiber, dying, printing, and finishing
• Knowledge of material types of knits, woven' s, non-woven' s and trims, including packaging.
• Basic working knowledge of MS Office applications, Excel expert is a plus.
• Able to anticipate needs, solve problems, perform research and analyze results.
• Attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Able to negotiate and influence with sensitivity for the creative process.
• Able to be assertive, self-motivated, and work in a team environment.
• Sensitivity to different cultures, customs, and business practices
• Understanding of the Footwear product development process
• Understanding of manufacturing realities and constraints preferred
• Ability to interpret design intent and offer alternative solutions preferred.
• Experience with vendor negotiation, materials or related development projects is preferred

• Travel within VN to visit T2 factories.
