The responsibility of this role is the maintenance and elevation of our Design output across and outside of the agency. They provide hands-on leadership in areas of creative excellence across a variety of Critical Mass’ services, and industries. The Design Director shares parity with the more traditional Creative Director, but has a natural specialty around all things Design. They are expected to champion excellence in craft across the work they touch.


You will: 

  • Crafting design systems for product, campaign, and brand identity work. 
  • Directing and crafting brand identity systems. 
  • Directing, guiding, evaluating and selling the work. 
  • Quality control – choosing concepts, providing feedback on what needs to change 
  • Responsible for product created from the idea, the execution, and the quality from a look and feel, storytelling and usability perspective;
  • Sheppard client with ability to listen, have empathy, ability to sell, motivate and enthuse the client;
  • Solutions that garner industry and press recognition;
  • Concept and storytell with larger clients and a variety of streams of work. 

You have: 

  • Advanced English Proficiency (C1).
  • 8+ yrs. experience in advertising agencies, digital agencies, design agencies, and/or startups.
  • Strong design portfolio including pieces for international clients.
  • Experience leading projects and teams on print, visual design, digital marketing, illustration and digital animation areas, preferably for international clients and global brands.
  • Experience with strategic brainstorming, campaign development, creative brief development and visual design execution.
  • Experience creating user interfaces for digital products.
  • Experience designing and implementing visual design processes and quality standards with a strategic approach.
  • Experience contributing in the design of departmental processes including performance management and career paths.
  • Experience managing visual design scopes, taking into account project schedule and budget.
  • Experience developing innovative proposals to ensure department growth and new business opportunities.
