Role Summary

As the Head of Valuations, you will lead our Valuations team and be responsible for the oversight and execution of all valuation activities across the firm’s diverse portfolio. This role requires a deep understanding of valuation methodologies, financial modeling, and market trends to ensure accurate valuation of investments. You will play a critical role in supporting strategic decision-making and financial reporting, adhering to both internal and external compliance and regulatory standards.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Strategy: Lead the Valuations team, setting the vision and strategy for the department. Develop and implement robust valuation policies and procedures to drive accuracy and efficiency.
  • Valuation Oversight: Oversee the valuation process for all investments, ensuring adherence to relevant accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS) and regulatory requirements. This includes reviewing and approving valuation models and assumptions, performing sensitivity analyses, and ensuring the timely completion of valuations.
  • Market Analysis: Keep abreast of market developments, industry trends, and regulatory changes that may impact valuation assumptions and methodologies. Adjust valuation models and approaches as necessary to reflect market realities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal teams, including investment, finance, and risk management, to provide insights and support related to investment valuations. Serve as the primary valuation contact for external auditors, regulators, and investors.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Ensure the valuation policy is maintained, followed and supported. Ensure accurate and transparent reporting of valuations for both internal management and external reporting. Maintain rigorous documentation and support for all valuation determinations, facilitating audit processes and regulatory examinations.
  • Team Development: Mentor and develop the Valuations team, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous learning, and professional growth.

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. An MBA or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in valuations, preferably in the alternative investments or asset management industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Expertise in various valuation techniques and financial modeling, with a strong understanding of credit and opportunistic investment strategies.
  • Proficient in regulatory and accounting standards affecting valuations, including GAAP and IFRS.
  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex valuation issues clearly and effectively.
  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities, with a proven track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate strategically, navigate complex situations, and influence cross-functional teams.
