JOB SUMMARY

Cresco Labs is seeking a Senior Analyst – Corporate Tax. The Corporate Senior Analyst will report to the Senior Manager, Corporate Income Tax and will assist with Cresco Labs and its subsidiaries tax provision calculations and disclosures for its quarterly and annual public filing requirements. In addition, this position will prepare federal and state income tax returns for Cresco Labs and its subsidiaries. The Senior Analyst will also create and improve processes for indirect tax, prepare tax forecasting, participate in tax integration for new businesses and acquisitions, as well as run special projects as needed. In addition, the position interacts with external and internal financial statement auditors in the execution of quarterly and annual reviews and audits. Our ideal candidate must be a self-starter who is highly organized with great attention to detail. 

CORE JOB DUTIES

  • In partnership with Senior Manager, Corporate Tax and SVP - Controller, assume ownership of the tax provision process
  • Tax provision
    • Calculation of federal tax expense, reconciliation of tax account balances, preparation of tax basis balance sheet adjustments
    • Maintain inventory of deferred tax assets
    • Quarterly tax accounting journal entries, including domestic return-to-accrual analyses and financial statement impact of audit settlements
    • Computation of global quarterly AETR
    • Maintain ownership of global uncertain tax position documentation processes, working in conjunction with advisors on legal and regulatory changes
    • Prepare schedules used in monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for both internal and external reporting purposes
    • Work closely with corporate accounting team to ensure proper tax reporting
    • Interface directly with external audit firm on quarterly reviews and annual audit
  • Tax preparation, research and planning
    • Prepare workpapers, schedules, calculations and other items related to federal tax return filings as well as estimated tax payments, extension payments and tax sharing settlements
    • Independently research and conclude on various complex tax issues to determine the appropriate tax treatment and related tax reporting
    • Support IRS exam process, administration and drafting of responses to tax notices and preparation and filing of amended federal tax returns
    • Work closely with Treasury and Financial Planning & Analysis groups on tax forecasting
    • Research includes preparing written memorandums for review by Senior Manager, Corporate Tax and technical presentations to senior leadership
    • Prepare external facing reports for investors and partners
  • Processes and controls
    • Assist in the implementation of new tax technology initiatives, including tax and provision preparation software
    • Build and maintain tax internal controls, for returns, provisions, and indirect tax
    • Tax integration for new businesses and acquisitions
    • Help drive the continuous improvement of processes and procedures as the company expands in both new and established markets 
    • Lead special projects both within, and outside of tax provision process
    • Work cross functionally with company departments and external partners

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or business degree with accounting concentration
  • Advanced Degree preferred: MST, MAcc or LLM
  • CPA required  
  • 5+ years accounting experience (public accounting or relevant corporate tax experience required) including at least two years core federal tax and tax provision experience (ASC 740/IAS 12)
  • Experience in complex global manufacturing organization preferred
  • Tax compliance experience, including indirect tax, preferred
  • Partnership taxation experience preferred
  • Ability to understand highly complex tax issues, work within a team environment to resolve such issues, and communicate results in a clear/timely manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills and consistent follow through on assigned tasks 
  • Experience with financial accounting systems (Intacct and SAP helpful) 
  • Experience with income tax provision software
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office required  
  • Enjoys working in a start-up, fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to work independently in a highly organized manner
