Come join Credit Karma as a Senior Accountant on our India Accounting & Compliance team. We are looking for leaders with a passion for innovation to join our fast-paced environment that operates like a ‘start-up’ within Credit Karma.

This is a Senior Accountant role within our International Accounting and Compliance organization and is located in Bangalore, India.  This position will be part of our India Accounting & Compliance team supporting Credit Karma India entity for US GAAP accounting, Local GAAP Accounting & Tax compliance.

This position will require strong technical and leadership skills, the ability to effectively partner with team members around the world, execute and maintain accounting principles and company policies, strong change management skills, and ability to drive issues through to resolution and validation.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Own and drive the month and quarter-end US GAAP Close processes and related responsibilities for the accounting department.
  • Accurate and timely execution of month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate US GAAP reporting.
  • Lead Local statutory audits including preparation of statutory financial statements, ensure Local GAAP books of accounts are in compliance with Local GAAP principles and as per applicable Accounting Standards in the APAC region. Candidates will need work experience in Ind-AS/IFRS.
  • Assess risks over accounts and areas of responsibility. Apply judgment to ensure that financial integrity of accounting entries, accruals, and account reconciliations are intact and operating effectively.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain account reconciliations consistent with GAAP and corporate accounting policies to ensure close timelines are met.
  • Prepare and maintain reports / schedules for management, prepare schedules requested by internal and external auditors.
  • Research and document company position on technical accounting issues with the ability to effectively communicate and present to business partners, prepare course of action by various team to collaborate and address risks/issues
  • Support compliance and improve processes and internal controls in the area of responsibility, implementing simple workflows where needed
  • Implement and maintain the required process and internal control environment, and perform control procedures to ensure subsidiaries are complying with Company policy. Candidate will need experience in internal control framework of the organization (coordinating ICFR audit, working with stakeholders to improve process or address audit issues)
  • Stay current on evolving Accounting Standards pronouncements and updates under prevailing regulatory bodies in the region
  • Apply professional skepticism and an inquisitive approach to review and analyze the appropriateness and reasonableness of underlying accounting principles followed for US GAAP accounting and preparation of local statutory financial statements
  • Lead and coordinate with various internal stakeholders to timely completion of Internal, ICFR, Interim and Statutory Audits or any other audits from time to time
  • Provide support for statutory audits, direct and indirect tax return preparation, and responses to governmental audit inquiries.
  • Own the compliance activities for the managed region in accounting, company secretarial, banking and related regulatory compliances. Work closely with key business partners to ensure effective compliance with policies and procedures.

 

Minimum Basic Requirement: 

  • Degree in Accountancy, with CA/CPA qualification
  • 4+ years of working experience in accounting and book close process.
  • 4+ years accounting or large public company experience is strongly preferred. Software industry experiences a plus.
  • 4+ years experience in end-to-end legal entity level accounts finalization as per IFRS /Ind AS accounting standards (Experience in APAC regional entities accounting knowledge will be an added advantage).

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and IFRS
  • Analytical thinker who can identify and implement effective process improvements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system –preferably experience in Oracle R12
  • Ability to analyze financial records and interpret in simple terms to other stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, strong written and oral communication skills
