Credigy has an immediate need for a talented Legal Assistant to join our dynamic Corporate Legal team and work closely with our Corporate Paralegals and Corporate Attorneys, assisting with the administrative functions relating to legal transactions for our business. This is a unique opportunity to work in-house but focus mainly on transaction-related activities. This role will primarily provide administrative support for the corporate paralegals and attorneys with transactions related to the company’s acquisition and financing of consumer finance portfolios. Additional responsibilities include managing aspects of corporate governance, invoice processing, drafting intercompany agreements, managing annual diligence updates, and ensuring documents are properly saved to our document management system. We are searching for a gifted legal assistant who enjoys challenging work and has a natural drive for success in a demanding environment.
Prior corporate legal experience is preferred, with at least 2 years working as part of an in-house legal team. Ideal candidates will have 4+ years of overall legal experience. An associate’s degree is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Candidates must be highly proficient with Adobe Pro, Document Management Systems, and Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and Visio.

To succeed in this position, you must have excellent communication skills and work well with a diverse group of people, building relationships across all departments and levels of the organization. We expect this person to be extremely detail-oriented and accurate while maintaining a strong sense of urgency and commitment to deadlines. You must be able to problem solve and be comfortable working independently, yet also be confident in proactively escalating issues as they arise.
The Legal Assistant will be responsible for the following specific functions within the Corporate Legal team:
- Support transactions related to the company’s portfolio acquisitions and structured finance activity (due diligence support, obtaining approval and signatures for legal documents, etc.);
- Use of DocuSign for obtaining approvals and for execution of documents;
- Review and submit legal invoices;
- Saving documents to our document management system with applicable meta-data;
- Corporate diligence tracking;
- Maintain corporate governance matters (KYC, subsidiary matters, quarterly and annual board meeting materials; written consents, etc.);
- Prepare intercompany loan and servicing agreements;
- Conduct UCC, tax and judgment lien searches and track UCC filings;
- Any additional responsibilities as requested by our Corporate Paralegals, Corporate Attorneys, or General Counsel.
