Job Overview:

At Coursera, our Data team is helping to build the future of education through data-driven decision making and data-powered products. We drive marketing, product and business strategy through ensuring high quality data, measurement, experimentation, and causal inference. 

We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and experienced Senior Manager to lead data science across three key areas: Content, Learning Management Platform (LMS), and Services. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Data Science, this role will spearhead analytics-driven strategies to optimize content performance and management, enhance platform capabilities, and empower our services team to deliver exceptional customer experiences. This role requires a blend of analytical prowess, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration to drive impactful outcomes across our consumer, enterprise, and degrees learner segments.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with stakeholders to establish metrics and goals to drive content, services and learning platform strategies, with shared responsibility for business goals and outcomes. Provide thought leadership to key stakeholders within product, content strategy, services, marketing and revenue planning / finance areas.
  • Collaborate closely  with stakeholders from  Content Strategy, revenue operations and business segment leaders to drive development data-driven content strategies,  inform investment decisions, and identify content gaps, through analytics and management of content Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and pre-launch and post-launch content performance forecasting, revenue share allocation modeling, and internal and external facing reporting.
  • Leverage data, insights and experimentation to establish robust measurement strategies. Supervise the development of statistically correct test designs to ensure well powered test results and insights needed to drive improved learner, educator and partner experience on our learning platform, enhance quality of services and availability of in-demand relevant content.
  • Oversee customer tracking and tagging and eventing instrumentation initiatives, ensuring accurate data collection and actionable insights for personalized customer experiences.
  • Increase self-service to insights capabilities via a combination of tools, dashboards, and education. Own production, development and maintenance of reports, Amplitude & Looker dashboards, data cubes and ongoing analyses to meet SLAs. Continuously think about how to improve the analytics infrastructure for the team and automate processes.
  • Lead the data science and analytics organization to always push the boundaries to deliver high quality analysis and translate data into insights, strategies and actions that can help Coursera’s business growth; Grow the organization, mentor and maintain a high bar of analytical depth for the team.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or related roles, with 3+ years of managerial experience.
  • A strategic thinker with a keen eye for identifying growth opportunities and translating them into actionable plans. Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to drive towards action and impact.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non- technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong command of analytical and visualization tools including Amplitude, Looker, SQL, and Python for data analysis and modeling.
  • Excellent knowledge of Statistics, Experimentation, Test Design Setup, Measurement and A/B Testing.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional projects and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience at EdTech or Content Subscription business 
  • Experience working with Salesforce and/or Marketo data
  • Experience with Airflow, Databricks and/or Looker
  • Experience in content strategy development and management in an education or digital content context.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and educational technology platforms.
  • Prior experience working with service delivery or customer support teams in a technology or education environment.
