Coupang Global Security (CGS) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Executive Protection to join our team and safeguard the well-being of executives. The Director of Executive Protection will be responsible for creating and executing comprehensive security strategies to ensure the safety and security of key executives. This role demands an individual with a proven track record in high-profile executive protection, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to navigate complex security challenges in the Republic of Korea and abroad.

In this position, the Director of Executive Protection will have regular engagement with multiple teams and stakeholders to coordinate and lead intelligence analysis related to travel security, technical security counter measures, executive protection training and development, and emergency response. To be successful in this position, the Director of Executive Protection must be eager to learn Coupang’s Security Processes across all regions globally, build strong relationships with key business teams, and develop robust executive security protection processes and plans.

This position will report to the Senior Director of Coupang Global Security.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective executive protection plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the unique needs of select executives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather intelligence and assess potential threats, ensuring proactive risk mitigation.
  • Lead a high-performing executive protection team, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to ensure the highest level of professionalism and efficiency.
  • Conduct thorough security assessments of residences, offices, and travel destinations to identify vulnerabilities and implement necessary security controls.
  • Maintain a strong network of contacts within the security industry and law enforcement to stay informed about emerging threats and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate closely with global travel teams to ensure seamless and secure executive travel, both domestically and internationally.
  • Manage crisis situations calmly and effectively, implementing crisis response plans to protect select executives from potential harm.
  • Oversee the procurement and utilization of advanced security technologies to enhance executive protection measures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (master’s degree preferred) in Business, Security, Government, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in military/law enforcement, executive protection, protective services, personal protection, security operations, and/or corporate security.
  • Understanding of ASIS, ISO, TAPA, PCI-DSS, and other international standards that guide security operations and relevant certifications in executive protection and security management.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of security protocols, threat management, risk management, and/or crisis management.
  • Effective English and Korean written and oral communication skills with multiple levels of leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to work discreetly and maintain confidentiality in all matters.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and lead a high-performance team.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities to assess and mitigate potential security risks.
