Role Overview

As our principal product owner, you will be leading our catalog matching to make our customer experience world-class. Coupang, as the largest ecommerce company in Korea, has billions of items in its catalog. Each month millions of new selections are onboarded. Catalog is the center piece of the ecommerce platform and we transform the raw product data into rich and well-organized product information for customers. Catalog Matching is a unique key advantage to Coupang marketplace and is the core product to catalog.

Our team leverages data from machine learning, AI, data mining, A/B testing, seller feedback to test and validate product iterations that simplify customer experience.

As a Principal Product Owner for Catalog Matching, you will own the catalog matching domain overall. You will be responsible to rethink how we can systematically match and group billions of items and products in our catalog so as to simplify customer shopping journey. You will work closely with engineering, data science, business analytics, matching operation and business teams to identify product opportunities in matching and relevant operation tools and execute on them.

  • Define product vision, roadmap, metrics and quarterly goals for matching products.
  • Manage the entire product life cycle from inception to launch, including writing product requirements, defining use cases, and setting success metrics.
  • Provide product thought leadership and be the subject matter expert on catalog science and technology.
  • Lead a high performing team of engineers, data scientists, business analysts and operation managers to implement the right strategy and meet success criteria.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Coupang to ensure its successful performance and development.
  • Continually Identify opportunities to improve the experience and dynamics on the marketplace for all parties (customers, sellers, vendors, and brands).

 

Basic Qualification

  • Solid track record (8+ years) of developing innovate new products, and taking them to market, in a tier 1 technology company.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or similar domains
  • A self-starter who can operate autonomously to manage projects in a fast-paced environment and remain focused amidst frequently changing requirements
  • Analytical thinker who can deep dive and take ambiguous and challenging problems and turn them into scoped projects and features
  • Proven ability to make good business judgment and to effectively communicate and influence others
  • Experience using data and quantitative research methodologies to inform decision making across the entire product design process/lifecycle.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science, statistics, business, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in ecommerce with deep understanding of the complexities of data science and a marketplace/consumer platform model
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
