What You’ll Do

Key responsibilities include:

  • [Tax Advisory Services] Hire and lead a team of Tax Advisory Services “TAS” professionals helping small and medium size businesses with tax planning, implementation of tax strategies, estimating and making quarterly tax payments, filing annual tax returns. This is an early hire in a new team and you will be both doing and reviewing TAS engagements.
  • [Tax Planning] Prepare and review tax plans using Corvee Tax software to make recommendations to small and medium size businesses taxpayers to find tax savings. Tax plans include completion of questionnaires, scanning of tax returns, analyzing and selecting tax strategies, presenting deliverables.
  • [Implementation of Tax Strategies] Prepare and review implementation of tax strategies. These strategies range from core, simple strategies like retirement, home office, and accountable plans to more complex strategies (i.e. Cost Segregation, R&D Tax Credits, and others) and using Corvee to complete these strategies.
  • [Quarterly Payments] Prepare and review quarterly estimated payments for small and medium size businesses using Corvee alongside tax preparation software to ensure accuracy. This estimates will be made while taking into account tax planning strategies the taxpayer has committed to implement.
  • [Tax Preparation] Prepare and review the annual tax returns (1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065) required for each taxpayer at the federal and state level and be the final reviewer and signer of returns.
  • [Practice Management] You will be a leader of a new team and responsible for working with the Corvee tax, product, and engineering teams to create the workflow the complete these Tax Advisory Services engagements to ensure timely high quality services to our taxpayer customers.
  • [Hiring & Leading] You will be a leader of a new team and responsible for hiring new tax preparers and tax advisory services professionals (staff, seniors, managers) capable of tax planning, making and estimated quarterly payments, implementing core and complex tax strategies, and filing annual tax returns.
  • [Working with SaaS Teams] In your role, you will be working with the tax and engineering team to improve your experience and the experience of your teams by requesting new features for tax software and practice management, new tax strategies, and new tax forms you want covered.

What You Need to Get the Job Done

  • CPA and Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years tax consulting and compliance experience in public accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience, including the review of tax returns, provisions and accompanying work papers, and supervision of staff assisting in the preparation of client deliverables
  • Minimum of 5 years experience with tax planning & implementation
  • Experience preparing and reviewing thousands of tax returns over the years (1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065)
  • Experience with and willingness to learn complex tax strategies like (R&D Tax Credits, Cost Segregation, and more)
  • Enjoys being ‘hands-on’ and truly ‘owning’ the strategy and processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for fast-paced, entrepreneurial work environments
  • A positive attitude
