We are seeking a highly skilled and self-driven Technical Project Manager with expertise in data center deployment to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, networking, and server technologies, combined with strong project management skills to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. The role offers flexibility, as it can be remote, and requires travel (up to 50%) to various project sites. The ideal candidate will be based in the Dallas, TX area or in Central New Jersey with access to a major airport.
Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Execution: Lead the full lifecycle of multiple simultaneous data center deployment projects, including design, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover to operations.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including clients, vendors, contractors, and internal teams. Facilitate clear communication and collaboration across all parties involved and hold meetings with your vendors and site to meet timelines.
- Resource Management: Manage and allocate resources (teams, tools, budget) effectively, ensuring that all project phases are adequately staffed and equipped to meet fast-paced timelines.
- Risk Management: Identify potential project risks, create mitigation strategies, and proactively address issues to minimize disruptions to project timelines.
- Scheduling & Budgeting: Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans, ensuring projects are delivered within agreed contractual constraints.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all data center deployments meet technical and quality standards, including compliance with industry best practices and local regulations.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design documents, and give regular progress reports.
- Technical Oversight and Collaboration: Provide technical guidance in collaboration with experts to teams on best practices for data center design and deployment, including considerations for power, cooling, networking, and physical security.
- Continual Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and operational efficiency. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance data center operations.
- Project Oversight: Travel to up to 25% of data center locations to monitor progress, troubleshoot issues, and ensure smooth project execution. Coordinate with local teams, contractors, and vendors during on-site visits.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in data center deployment or infrastructure project implementation or technical project management in data centers. Experience with high-performance compute environments and GPU technologies are a plus.
- Project Management Skills: Proven track record of successfully managing complex technical projects from initiation to completion. Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
- Data Center Operations: In-depth knowledge of data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems. Familiarity with data center best practices and industry standards.
- Leadership and Communication: Excellent leadership and team management skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Ability to analyze complex technical issues, troubleshoot problems, and propose innovative solutions. Strong decision-making and critical-thinking abilities.
- Compliance and Security: Familiarity with industry standards such as TIA-942, Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, data center compliance requirements, security protocols, and risk management practices.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing requirements.
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed to data center locations, sometimes on short notice.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or relevant experience. Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL, CDCP, CDCS, or similar) are a plus.
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $90,000/year in our lowest geographic market to $130,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors, including market location, and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience
