To support our rapid growth, we’re seeking a dynamic Senior Director of Software Engineering. 

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Senior Director of Software Engineering is a senior leadership position responsible for supporting the CTO in the development and implementation of software engineering strategies and initiatives. You will work closely with the CTO to identify and address software engineering needs, develop, and manage projects and products, and ensure that our B2B products align with member & supplier needs, drive measurable value, and are aligned with the company's business goals. You will lead multiple software engineering teams within the technology organization. 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an excellent people leader, including hiring, training, assignment and oversight of team responsibilities, performance management, and delivery of constructive, high-quality, timely feedback via formal and informal channels 
  • Support the CTO in executing the technology product roadmap and enable the business to scale operationally through extensible technology solutions 
  • Full operational management responsibility for software engineering; ensuring that the assignment of resources and work distribution is prioritized to meet the needs of the organization 
  • Develop and manage technical projects and products 
  • Drive engineering solutions from conception to deployment / delivery with clear ROI impact and results focused pragmatism 
  • Ensure that software engineering outcomes are aligned with the company's business goals 
  • Stay up to date on the latest technical trends and technologies 
  • Engage, build, and partner with the executive team, key stakeholders, and vendors to ensure alignment with current and long-term business objectives 
  • Establish the objectives for operations, maintenance, and enhancement of the technology systems and a plan for continuous improvement of the service levels 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all relevant business and technology stakeholders and functions 
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to effectively balance the competing demands of innovation, quality, architectural/operational improvements, and customer feedback 
  • Other related duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience required 
  • 10+ years of experience in technical leadership for engineering teams 
  • 14+ years of technology experience working in software engineering 
  • Experience leading/developing front-end web solutions, back-end service-oriented architecture frameworks, and relational database design in an enterprise cloud environment 
  • Strong experience in a dynamic software engineering role 
  • Experience developing complex software engineering solutions involving multiple teams and stakeholders 
  • Experience in leading technical teams to build complex solutions in a collaborative work environment ensuring that best practices and architectural tradeoffs are considered 
  • Focused Technologies: Azure, AWS, MySQL, SOA, PHP, Python, TypeScript, React, Node, OOP 
  • Thorough understanding of agile project management principles and planning 
  • Thorough understanding of software engineering procedures and practices 
  • Proficient with, or able to quickly become proficient with, a range of general and specialized applications, software, and hardware used in the organization and the industry 
  • Organized with attention to detail 
  • Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to motivate and lead people and projects  
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
