Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical Installation & Maintenance:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Inspect electrical systems to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs:
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components to locate the cause of a breakdown.
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
- Ensure electrical systems comply with local building codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Preventive Maintenance:
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
- Ensure electrical systems operate efficiently to minimize energy consumption and reduce downtime.
- Facilities Technician Responsibilities:
- Perform general facility maintenance, including repairing doors, windows, and furniture.
- Assist with basic plumbing tasks such as fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and replacing fixtures.
- Conduct minor carpentry work, including shelving, small structural repairs, and basic furniture assembly.
- Handle routine HVAC maintenance, such as replacing filters and ensuring system functionality.
- Perform general building upkeep, including patching walls, painting, and maintaining flooring.
- Safety Compliance:
- Follow national electrical code, local building regulations, and safety procedures to prevent electrical and general facility hazards.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and promote a safety-first culture in all maintenance activities.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with facilities management and other trade specialists (HVAC, plumbing, carpentry) to ensure smooth facility operations.
- Provide input on improvements or upgrades to both electrical and general facility systems to enhance safety and efficiency.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of both electrical and facility maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Report and document any incidents, issues, or required upgrades to management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Journeyman electrician or equivalent certification (preferred).
- 3-5 years of experience in electrical maintenance and repair in a commercial or industrial setting.
- Strong general facility maintenance experience, including plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and building repairs.
- Understanding of electrical codes and general building safety regulations.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools for electrical and general facility maintenance tasks.

Work Environment:
- Indoor and outdoor environments, depending on the facility.
- May require working at heights, confined spaces, or areas with potential electrical and facility-related hazards.
- Exposure to electrical hazards, plumbing, and general construction materials; PPE is required.
