In this exciting role, you will plan, coordinate, and perform complex estimate takeoffs for all divisions, ensuring that both company and department goals are achieved. Your expertise in providing accurate and efficient critical systems takeoffs will be invaluable, and you'll also play a key role in mentoring and guiding junior staff alongside our Preconstruction Management team. Essential Job Functions/Tasks:
- Once assigned a project and team, Senior Estimators assist Precon Manager in Playbook, roles and responsibilities, setting up estimate software and folder to Company Standards. They are tip of the spear in the formal estimate process and stewards of the detailed takeoff to completion
- Perform critical systems or component estimates relative to the electrical infrastructure (i.e. One-lines, MV Loops, Ductbanks etc)
- Assist in the preparation of training modules, studies, materials and methods, recommendations, and cost estimates for PE Rotational Program Attendees
- Participate in pre-bid job site inspections and / or job walks
- Participate in project related pre and post bid meetings
- Participate in job progress and / or close out meetings
- Initiate, develop and maintain working relationships with clients, design professionals, subcontractors and vendors
- Keep Preconstruction Manager informed as to all open or unresolved design issues and tracks design and cost changes during the development of a project cost model(s)
- Ensures preconstruction teams are delivering value added measures to design build/ design assist projects
- Develops, implements, and ensures project controls practices are being consistently utilized throughout the organization
- Demonstrates the insight and ability to implement preconstruction management initiatives or improvements in coordination and integration with other functions
- Stays abreast and informed regarding relevant technical, operational, and professional developments related to preconstruction and capitalizes on such developments to impact overall competitive advantage
- Multi-tasking and prioritizing to ensure that multiple bids or assignments take place simultaneously as needed
- Leads as a Bid Captain in the development of sales proposals. Knows how to take off estimates and price labor and material during the bid process; can define the scope of work; and ensures price coverage by vendors.
- Keep current on changes and trends in methods of construction and materials, construction costs, wage rates, fringes and working rules
- Able to perform their own takeoff responsibilities as directed while assisting in oversight of multiple additional precon assets working on same project or estimate
- Provide in depth Peer to Peer Estimates with all downline personnel in preparation for Bid Scrubs and Executive Reviews
- Assist in Bid Scrubs when Precon Manager requires in preparation for Executive Reviews
- Review Specifications with team to ensure means and methods are correct
Training and Functional Requirements:
- S., GED, management classes and / or 5 years field and estimating experience combined
- Proficiency in Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point)
- Proficient in the Estimating program Accubid Classic, Accubid COR and Livecount On-screen Takeoff
- A working knowledge of reading and understanding all types of blueprints for all trades

Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work 40 hours per week and overtime if required
- Ability to lift and / or carry 20 lbs unassisted
- May be exposed to job site conditions during inclement weather
- Valid driver license and proof of insurability when job duties require use of motor vehicle
- Requires exercising of discretion in decision making process and maintaining of strict confidentiality with respect to employee and company proprietary related information
