About the Role

Data Analysts are the people who form a marriage of minds with product, marketing and commercial managers and provide them the insights they need to drive improvements in their products. They explore data, create impactful visualizations and design and analyze experiments to fuel team learning and innovation. Over time, as both the learning needs and the analysts' understanding of how to address them mature, they build their understanding into self-service insights dashboards that enable learnings to be generated without the direct support of data professionals. This creates the opportunity to go deeper on other areas. It’s a role where mastery in metric setting, visualization, data storytelling, experimentation and partnering come together to facilitate team measurement and learning within CookUnity’s daily rhythms.

What you’ll do in 12 months

  • Drive data creation to maximize observability of the eater acquisition experience. Work across the end-to-end eater acquisition journey, from off platform content to on platform order conversion, to make sure we create all the data we need to understand, measure and influence our growth goals. Ensure data quality and interoperability is owned at the source of its creation by working with engineers, growth and channel managers across the platform. Success will be measured by the completeness and persistent quality of data we use to power our growth initiatives.
  • Enable a complete, holistic and objective view of acquisition and retention journey performance: Develop and support the development of interactive performance reporting, so the growth teams always always know their strategies are performing from a precision targeting, cost of acquisition and lifetime value perspective. Success will be measured in the depth of understanding, and minutes it takes, for the team to learn about their success metrics and its drivers.
  • Cook up the insights needed to successfully deploy our growth budget to meet our goals: Collaborate with the VP Growth and extended team to establish how best to deploy growth investments towards growth objectives. Explore everything from the channels we use, the segments we target to the content we use to target them (e.g. what’s better for attracting families, images of food or images of families eating food? What budget and channel allocations do we need to hit our eater acquisition and cost of acquisition targets for segment X next semester?). Success will be measured by the number of high performing campaigns your insights enable and the overall achievement of the Growth Team’s success metrics each semester.
  • Help with the growth teams scale up early testing and controlled experiments: Design, support execution of and analyze (semi-)controlled experiments of new growth and retention strategies. Leverage experimentation tools to enable self-serve conclusions about success, but provide hands on support to understand in-test behaviors. Produce learnings and work closely with user experience researchers to help the growth teams understand “the why” of their successes and failures. Success will be measured by the number of major growth interventions that can be developed each quarter as a result of the speed and learnings enabled through experimentation.
  • Map and clearly articulate our learning needs: Discover and own the growth learning roadmap, identifying unknown learning needs that could have a significant impact on our ability to target new eaters by segment in the most cost effective and value accretive way.
  • Be a multiplier for other analysts in the team: Help the other analysts engineers in the team make stretch improvements in their already strong insights work and analytical solving. Be the strongest insights producer in the team and the data vizard that everyone looks to for tips on how to improve their own analytics practices.  Success will be measured by both the observable growth in the team (e.g. more impactful insights, more self-service insights enabled) and the direct feedback you get from them about the positive impact you’re having on their practices.
  • Leverage existing ML models or develop your own to predict the effectiveness of growth interventions: Build off the batch inference data from existing ML models (e.g. predictive LTV modeling) or train your own models to quantify the impact of growth interventions before we invest in them. If you’re missing data, generate sample data using small experiments. Success is measured by the number of growth interventions powered directly by models and the uplift they have on our growth metrics.
