The role you'll play

Reporting to the Director of Insights, the Associate Analyst will help CE’s US institutional clients interpret multiple proprietary data sources. This individual will be responsible for highlighting key takeaways for individual stocks, industries, and geographies through written reports and client presentations. Leveraging knowledge of each dataset and nuances of individual companies, you will have the ability to demonstrate how to use data to model company-reported metrics. Your main responsibilities

  • Derive and communicate insights on individual stocks, industries, and geographies using multiple proprietary data sources, through written reports and client communications
  • Show investor clients how to relate data from multiple datasets to real-world trends reported by companies, helping to reveal key takeaways from the data
  • Demonstrate how to use data to model company-reported metrics, highlighting nuances and potential blind spots on a symbol-specific/data product basis and where separate modeling might be required
  • Process and interpret financial information from SEC filings, company presentations, and news reports for covered companies
  • Incorporate real-world factors that may influence how data corresponds to reported numbers and make necessary modeling recommendations
  • Analyze company commentary from conference calls to determine how real-world factors impact data
  • Incorporate knowledge of individual companies to evaluate and improve effectiveness of data
  • Assist with special ad-hoc projects, presentations, and reports

You will be successful in this role if you have

  • A passion for working with clients in data-focused roles & experience with SaaS products
  • Experience working with financial services customers (specifically buy-side investors) and experience in equity research/analysis or financial analysis
  • The ability to establish credibility with key customer decision makers & influencers
  • Strong verbal/written communication & presentation skills; extraordinary listening skills
  • A commitment to learning new skills
  • Strong problem solving & analytical skills; formulates solutions that deliver real business value
  • Experience managing renewal processes & comfortability with negotiation

We’re looking for someone with

  • BA/BS degree in business administration, finance, consulting or management (science degrees apply if work experience is relevant to job needs)
  • 3-5 years of overall relevant experience, with at least 2 in corporate, sell-side or buy-side equity research, management consulting, or in a role where you utilize data to understand business trends and solve customer problems
  • Experience at a bank (larger or boutique) conducting equity research/analysis or financial analysis
  • Some knowledge of SQL and/or Python
  • Experience using data in the research process
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in easy-to-understand manner
  • Strong desire to learn and is comfortable rolling up sleeves
  • Detail-orientation and organized
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
