The role you'll play: 

The Controller at Consumer Edge will play a significant role in building out a best-in-class accounting and finance organization capable of scaling with a rapidly growing business.  The business has been focused primarily on product and growth for the last several years and has reached a point in its maturity where more robust financial structure and infrastructure is required to support the business.  This is essentially ground zero for the finance organization and represents a significant opportunity to have an impact and grow professionally.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Play a lead role in the implementation of Netsuite, including recasting of historical financial data (cash basis to accrual basis) and subsequent data migration
  • Design and implement formal month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes and subsequently oversee the day-to-day accounting and controllership activities
  • Enhance and execute the company’s order to cash cycle, including application of ASC 606, ongoing customer invoicing activities, cash collection, etc.
  • Enhance and execute the company’s procure to pay cycle, including vendor management, accounts payable management, and expense recording
  • Establish and document significant accounting policies including preparation of technical accounting memos detailing the company’s position with respect to US GAAP
  • Prepare comprehensive, four-statement financial statements and corresponding notes to financial statements on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Develop and implement a framework for internal control over financial reporting, fostering an ICFR environment commensurate with the company’s size and growth targets
  • Identify opportunities to implement RPA strategies to reduce manual transaction throughput and establish a highly automated transaction processing environment
  • Oversee various statutory compliance activities, including sales tax and eventually foreign entity, local financial compliance
  • Liaise with our public accounting firm in execution of annual financial audit
  • Liaise with our tax preparer in preparation of tax accounting in accordance with US GAAP as well as preparation of annual tax returns
  • Build a high quality controllership team that supports the accounting, risk management, and financial reporting objectives of a growing organization

We're looking for someone with:

  • 10+ years of progressive financial accounting experience, including public accounting firm and private enterprise experience
  • A CPA or CA with extensive US GAAP accounting and reporting experience
  • Experience with multiple entity businesses, including foreign subsidiaries, requiring consolidation
  • Experience working in a growth organization with multiple competing corporate finance priorities
  • Familiarity with Netsuite, Salesforce, and other enterprise management systems
  • Strong ICFR design, implementation, and execution experience
  • Prior experience managing a team of people
  • Top-level critical thinking, communication, and project management skills
  • An ability to see the concrete through the abstract and make things happen
  • Tenacity and motor
