About the Codefi product group

Codefi is at the forefront of the blockchain fintech revolution. It builds, deploys and runs critical applications across both Enterprise and crypto/DeFi, multiple blockchain verticals (digital assets, payments, workflows, data, staking, Ethereum 2.0), as well as ConsenSys’s other industry leading products, including MetaMask, Quorum and Infura. The Codefi team is composed of multiple decentralised product teams across all verticals distributed across Europe and US and working mostly remotely.

About the Role

As a Data Engineer at Codefi Markets you will work with our teams to build deep analytical understandings of our product usage and system operations. You will have access and assist in the collection of wide data sets ranging from on-chain data, market data and systems performance metrics collected from MetaMask, Codefi and stored in Segment, MixPanel and delve into questions into questions like, “what explains this degradation of performance for that particular user/trade?”, “are there indicators of performance from user behavior and/or network/market activity that can help us optimize the user experience and provide the best possible execution?”. 

We are looking for someone who is detailed-oriented and passionate about digging into the mechanics of a user experience and the performance of systems, and who can combine various types of data (on-chain data, third-party data, systems performance metrics, market data) and build a framework of analysis and monitoring tools to identity potential optimisation and improvements such as to provide the best possible execution to our users. This role requires a strong engineering background across software development, data analysis and infrastructure, and interest in the specific challenges of blockchain technology.

Required Skills

  • 4y+ software engineering experience (Javascript, node.js)
  • 3y+ data engineering/analyst/scientist experience
  • Experience using and working with with MixPanel, Segment
  • Experience with React frontends and node.js/web backends, incl. performance analysis and improvements
  • Experience analysing and optimising the performance/reducing latency of complex systems combining multiple data sources, execution environments (from backend to Javascript frontend) -  for instance trading applications/systems
  • Experience building fine-grain performance/monitoring tools and metrics for user-facing products
  • Understanding of blockchain, Ethereum in particular
  • Interest in crypto and DeFi 
  • Experience working in a distributed, remote team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Bonus Points for any of:

  • Familiarity with DevOps and infrastructure (ELK/Prometheus/Kibana/Grafana)
  • Understanding of the Ethereum 1.0 Protocol, on-chain storage and data structures
  • Experience or knowledge of Ethereum and Solidity
  • Experience with data pipelines and scraping/storing/analysing large amounts of data
