General Summary:

As the Director of Revenue, you will be a key Leader within our accounting team. You will be responsible for overseeing a team of professionals focused on our revenue recognition processes and ensuring compliance with technical accounting standards. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements, provide guidance on complex accounting issues, and ensure accurate financial reporting. This role supports the development, implementation, and operation of end-to-end business operations and reporting processes for revenue and key operating metrics on an enterprise-wide basis.

In this role you will also be assisting with the system integration and will help design and test revenue recognition end to end. 

This role is hybrid and will require you coming into HQ in Downtown Tampa at least 3x/week.

What You'll Do:

  • Leads and manages a team responsible for revenue recognition and reconciliations. Provides guidance, support, and mentorship to team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  •  Leads and prioritizes the daily activities of the team and month end close processes related to revenue recognition • Reviews and evaluates the work of team members to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to accounting standards and company policies. Provides feedback and guidance to facilitate the ongoing learning and development of staff through training and mentoring.
  • Develops and maintains revenue recognition policies and procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and industry-specific guidelines
  • Stays up-to-date with emerging accounting standards and provides guidance on complex accounting issues, including but not limited to revenue recognition for software-as-a-service (SaaS) contracts, and other revenue-related matters 
  • Leads the implementation of new financial systems or enhancements to existing systems related to revenue recognition. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including IT and finance, to define requirements, conduct testing, and ensures successful system implementation 
  •  Monitors the performance and functionality of financial systems related to revenue recognition, ensuring accurate and timely recording of revenue transactions.
  • Identifies and resolves any system issues or errors promptly, working closely with IT to minimize disruptions and ensures accurate data capture and processing.  
  • Maintains up-to-date documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures related to revenue recognition.
  • Oversees the reconciliation process for revenue-related accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Resolves any discrepancies or variances identified during the reconciliation process
  • Assists in the preparation of quarterly and annual reports, providing support and documentation to internal and external auditors during audits and reviews
  • Identify opportunities to enhance revenue recognition processes, streamline workflows, strengthen controls and improve efficiency. Implements best practices and drives continuous improvement initiatives
  • Documents and regularly updates control procedures, policies, and guidelines related to revenue recognition. Ensures compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606) and internal control requirements
  • Reviews and analyzes revenue data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provides insights to assist in the forecasting process.
  • Focuses on scalability and automation of the Revenue Cycle processes with ongoing risk analysis around potential revenue leakage
  • Utilizes financial systems and data analysis tools to generate reports and provide insights on revenue related metrics, trends, and performance indicators.
  • Prepares and presents regular reports to management, highlighting key findings and recommendations for improvement
  • Aids in the decision making for key elements of sales automation, including managing complex SalesForceDotCom (SFDC) business workflow optimization and Configure, Price, and Quote (CPQ) Essential Duties & Responsibilities: integration processes

Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA certification preferred 
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in revenue recognition and technical accounting roles; public accounting experience preferred 
  • 5+ years of managerial experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with financial systems, such as ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and revenue management software.
  • Experience working across sales and marketing functions
  • Experience working with global teams 
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel, Salesforce, Sales Automation, and Configure, Price, and Quote (CPQ) 
  • Preferred: 3+ years of experience leading a Sales/Revenue Operations team with a Software as a Service (SaaS) company
